About Me
Background and Career Bio
I was born in Washington, D.C. and spent my early childhood in the D.C. suburbs feasting on blue crabs. South Jersey was the stage of the latter part of my childhood. I worked the summers on the boardwalk of Ocean City renting bikes, making candy, grilling cheesesteaks, dressing as an amusement park mascot, and tossing pizzas. In my off-time I would frequent the volleyball courts at 6th Street.
Very much the academic in high school, I graduated 12th in my class with a 3.95 GPA. Congressman Bill Hughes honored me with a nomination to the Air Force Academy. Alas my chosen course was Penn State where I studied Architecture and the Arts. I graduated with a B.A. in Integrative Arts in 1999.
In the last 10 years I've been fortunate to work for a few very good companies. The majority of my design experience has been in print and pre-press publishing however a few positions have afforded the opportunity to do web design, illustrations, logos, photography, photo editing, and flash graphics. The graphic design skills repertoire runs deep and varied with this one.
I'm always seeking new freelance projects to work on so if you know of such an opportunity have your people call my people (by that I mean email me at mawby1@gmail.com).
In my spare time I enjoy my role as a Dad to my beautiful genius of a daughter, Cameron. In the last year, I've picked up distance running. In September of '09, I completed my first half-marathon and in November I will be running the Philadelphia (Full) Marathon. That's 26.2 miles of fun! Pain is just weak leaving the body. Oh, and I still enjoy playing indoor and outdoor volleyball whenever possible.
