Thursday, 9 June 2011 at 7pm – University Chaplaincy, Msida.
Sunday, 19 June 2011 at 7pm – St James Cavalier, Valletta.
The documentary was initially meant to be an educational and informative tool showing how the Maltese reception system affects the lives of asylum seekers. What emerged from the interviews that were conducted was more than just information. It was an awakening that showed the deep scars which asylum seekers carry all throughout their journey.
The final product does not discuss law or policy, and it is not meant to be political or controversial but simply to reveal the realities, hopes, fears and hardships that asylum seekers face everyday.
This initiative is part of a project that JRS Malta has been involved in since 2009, which seeks to understand and study the problem of destitution amongst migrants in Malta.
"Suspended Lives" is rated PG, is in English and has a running time of 75 minutes. For more information about the documentary please visit www.suspendedlives.orgPlease pass on to your contacts. We hope to see you there. Many thanks and regards, The JRS Malta team. |
