March 3rd and 10th, 2012 - Division A/B, 2 weeks, 12 noon - 10pm

Eligibility:

Players: Anyone who currently resides in MA, works in MA, or is affiliated with a MA badminton club. A player may only play for 1 team and 1 level only. A player may play in any Division higher than his/her skill level, but cannot play in Divisions that below his/her skill level. For example, an “A” level player cannot play in Division B/C, while a “C” level player is eligible to play in Division A/B.

Teams: Anyone can form a team. A team can be formed by either one club or multiple clubs. A club may form more than 1 team. A team is not required to be affiliated with any club(s).

League Structure:

For Division A/B: No more than 4 MA “A” level players are allowed on each team. An “A” level player is defined as a player who has participated in the BITT or the Massbad Doubles League Division A Team Tournament in the last two years.

For Division B/C and Division D: Any players may compete as long as they are eligible for play in Division B/C or Division D (see above eligibility rules).

For each level, play involves round robin group(s) with possible playoffs to be conducted at the end of the day or the following weekend. The coordinators shall conduct an open random draw of groupings if more than one group is to be formed. Specific numbers and sizes of groups are to be determined.

Play Structure:

Format of Team Meet:

Each “Team Meet” shall consist of the following matches: 4 Men’s Doubles, 1 Women’s Doubles, and 2 Mixed Doubles. Stacking is not allowed. Teams are required to finish all matches in a “Team Meet”, regardless of whether or not the winning team has already been determined prior to the final match of the “Team Meet.”

Division A/B: Entries must be received by February 16, 2012 via e-mail to the corresponding Coordinators

Division B/C: Entries must be received by April 5, 2012 via e-mail to the corresponding Coordinator

Division D: Entries must be received by April 20, 2012 via e-mail to the corresponding Coordinator

Fee:

$10 membership fee per person to the Massachusetts Badminton Association if you have not paid the membership fee since January 2011.

$200 per team for Div. D.

Check must be received by February 16th for Div. A/B, April 5 for Div. B/C and April 20th for Div. D.

Rules:

1. Each team captain must submit players’ "Rank" to Coordinators based on the captain's best knowledge. Rank has to be received by Coordinators 1.5 week before the tournament day.

2. Team captains should make sure players' waivers have been signed. Then the team captain collects these forms and gives these forms to League Coordinators.

3. One Team Meet consists of 4 MD, 2XD and 1WD matches. Orders of the strength for 4 MD or 2XD matches are: MD#1, MD#2, MD#3, MD#4 or XD#1, XD#2. The order of the players is decided in accordance with addition of two players' individual rankings. In other word, the lineup must follow the "ranks". Stacking is not allowed.

4. For Division A, no more than 4 “A” level players are allowed in one team. These “A” level players are always have to play MD#1, MD#2, WD, XD#1, or XD#2. They cannot play MD#3 or MD#4.

5. For each Team Meet: Each player can only play up to two matches per Team Meet with no same pair playing twice.

6. Each team Captain must fill in the names of their players on the score sheet. Captains then exchange score sheets at the same time, in person, and fill the names on the opponents' score sheet.

7. FORMAT AND ORDER OF PLAY: actual play sequence is not important. It can be decided by both captains in order to make a smooth operation and save court time.

8. All matches shall be best of 3 games to 21 points. New Rally score system under IBF rules.

9. 10 minutes grace is allowed before a match is declared a default. DEFAULT should be written next to the names of players and signed by the captain.

10. Before each match starts, a 3-minute warm up is allowed.

11. Players shall keep their own scores. However, if any disagreement regarding compliance with IBF rules arises, players may request for a neutral official (umpire, linesperson(s) or service judge) to assist in the compliance.

12. The team that beats the most teams will be the winner in each group. In the event of a tie in any group, the team that has the highest won match percentage will be the winner. Then if it is still tied, the team that has the highest won game percentage will be the winner. Runner up will be determined using the same method. Won Percentage = Won / (Lost + Won).
