Hi this is Mason Goodman. This is my first ever podcast on may 27th 2009. One of my most impacting high school experiences was the every 15 minutes program that i participated in earlier this month. Going into the program i was not taking it seriously thinking oh well this is just going to teach a lesson to kids about drinking and driving. Come to find out its more about life choices and how they affect everyone around you forever whether you realize it or not. One stupid decision that you thought might have been fun or a good idea at the time, might end up ruining your or your families lives. Sitting down with my peers seeing some of them cry, writing letters to their parents as if they were dead and never had another chance to say goodbye really hit me hard. my cousin passed away 3 years ago in an automobile accident and seeing my aunt and uncles lives destroyed has given me a first hand experience with loss like this. along with the retreat, going to LA county jail was horrible. Just being in the building brought you down. The air was thicker and criminals were all around. We talked to a man that has been in jail since he was 14 and was convicted of 5 counts of murder. Hearing his story and experiences had an effect on all of us. You may hear or see things on T.V but being there was real. this man had killed people and destroyed his life forever he was never going to get out. Seeing and experiencing these things has given me a different outlook on my decisions and where they will take me in life and who they will affect. If there is one thing you get out of this podcast let it be think before you act.
