Running through these counties is the Interstate 95 corridor, which is geographically situated between our Nation's Capital and our State Capital with Richmond to the South and Washington, DC to the North.  The eighth Masonic District (Along with the Ninth and Eleventh District is within Masonic Division Eight (Central Coast Region) of the Grand Lodge of Virginia.  Of the Masonic Lodges with this District, Kilwinning-Crosse No. 2(-237) and Fredericksburg No. 4 were two of the original seven Lodges that established the Grand Lodge of Virginia in 1778.

Right Worshipful

Freeman Litz Shupe, Jr.

District Deputy Grandmaster of the

8th Masonic District

Greetings Message from our District Deputy Grand Master

Welcome to the 8th Masonic District webpage. I hope you will find it informative and useful. I encourage all to use it to list degree work, special events and happenings in general in your Lodge. This will allow all visitors to the site to be aware of things they may wish to attend. Especially those of you with Entered Apprentices and Fellowcrafts in the works, if you would like to have them witness the degree, you will now be able to look at the District calendar and see when and where work is being done.

Now, let me first of all say “Thank you” to the entire District for your vote of confidence in recommending me for the position of District Deputy Grand Master. I am sure, with your support, we are going to have a great and successful year.

Most Worshipful John Mason Chambliss, Jr., the 166th Grand Master of Masons in Virginia will make his official visit to our District on January 22, 2011. The event will be held at the Town Hall in Bowling Green. His theme is “Make a Difference Every Day”. By this he reminds us that our every thought, word, or deed has consequences, either good or bad, and we should strive to be deliberate in our efforts so that we do indeed make a difference.

Please take the time to look over the webpage and appreciate the work Brother Chandler has put in it.
