The McFadden Series is a collection of novels based on the lives of physiotherapist, Dr. Lauren McFadden, and her equally-talented husband, Bryan. The story begins with the couple working at Saint Michael's Rehabilitation Center in Northampton, MA. Acting on a stroke of luck, the couple follow their dream to build a home for a group of abused, neglected teenagers with special needs. Things begin to snowball from there, starting with a home that resembles a luxury resort in both features and size. Young residents begin to arrive even before the home is completely finished. It doesn't take long for Bryan and Lauren to discover that rehabilitating young bodies injured by accidents and domestic violence is the easy part. Parenting a bunch of troubled teenage boys – and two college-age staff members that come with their own unique needs – takes skills far beyond the boundaries of medicine. It's adventure one minute and strong emotions the next as the family faces tough challenges from inside the walls and from the outside world. Don't look for "miracle cures" or constant happy endings in these books. Life just doesn't work that way.
