Mary's Story:
Pulling Together to Help Those in Need How would you feel if you were away at school working hard to do your best in classes and you came home to find that you didn’t really have a place to call home anymore? What if you’d traveled 10 hours or more to get there only to find your apartment vandalized and unsafe? That’s what happened to Mary! Being the ultimate optimist I think to myself fine, I’ll stay with friends for a few days and when breaks over I’ll go back to school and stay in my old room at the dorm and remain there through next semester. Right! Wrong! This could be a seamless transition, keeping stress at a minimum. Mary however didn’t have this option because unfortunately she didn’t clear ($6,450). Now here again with positive thinking, I would say no sweat. I’ll just hop back on the saddle next semester. (G.P.A. 3.21) This perspective becomes more and more difficult to maintain as an Oakwood student or any college student who comes close to realizing their goal of graduating elude them yet another semester. All of these toilsome semesters that lead up to the last one, begins to bear down as an overwhelming weight; when faced with being displaced and unable to enter the work place associated with one’s Major because of this kind of misfortune. Mary will need to replace even the simplest of items needed for her to function in her new environment. This is why I am asking for us to try to cover at least two months rent for her. This young lady is diligent and does not shrink away from hard work. I would like to see her be able to focus and do well. If you are not able to contribute any monetary donation, please consider contributing some other items that might help Mary To get adjusted, such as: Air mattress or Bed Drinking Glasses Table, Lamp, Chairs, and Sofa Chest of drawers, hangers Coffee Table Dishes and Silverware Funding for school
Well this letter was sent out to family and friends by a loyal and trusting friend that seen the need to help in any way that she knew how. With her help I received little but appreciated help toward my survival. The burglary occurred in December of 2007 and I have been homeless and out of school since January 1, 2008. Since this time I have worked as a food server in Alabama, which paid not enough to get and keep my own apartment. I was getting paid $7 an hour and working only 20 hours a week. I choose to hold on to the job that I had because it was difficult finding a new one. Some money is better than no money. After they laid us off in April, I decided to go home; back to Toledo, in hope to stay with my parents; while on a journey to discover a job. With the economy being the way that it is, I am excited to say that I have a job as a Teacher for a child care center, unfortunately; I am not staying with my parents. During the time that I have been homeless, I have stayed in 12 different places. None of these places have been completely nice and safe environments. You can see how frustrating this could be for me. I thought that this year being 2009, I could restart school but unfortunately again; with the scholarship, loans, and grant money I do not have enough. I allow you to take a look at it yourself. Right now I am working trying to save up for school and an apartment. Sunday, January 25, 2009, I moved in with a freind from my church. She has given me access to the whole top half of her three bedroom apartment. She is oftentimes away out of town at work; therefore, I have the run of the apartment. It is like having my own place. I have my own room and bathroom. I will pay rent every month and help with utilities. How am I going to pay for school, I feel that I should utilize some of my talents. I am thinking to sell some of my poetry, my personal CD and hopefully when my book is complete, I could get it published. If you would like to help me reach my goal please, send all contributions to: Mary Bouyer 1254 Indiana Avenue Toledo, Ohio 43607 I know that by reading this it may come across a tad bit suspicious but if you don't believe me and want me to send a copy of my bill from the school and a letter with proof of only one semester left I am able to do just that.
Your name and contribution will appear on my website and I will send you a thank you letter.

P.S. I am planning to become a general education teacher.
I am putting a test of faith out there. Something says this might not work but I can hope for God to deliver; through the hand and will of someone.
