Large Web Site about the Real Women and Girls of the Martial Arts

Women and girls in the martial arts have some unique challenges:

  • Training with mostly men, who sometimes have more upper body strength.
  • Uniforms that don't always fit a feminine figure.
  • Uniforms with tops that open up fairly easily.  This requires the women wear a shirt underneath, and/or constant fixing of the uniform.
  • Masculine attitudes held by the male majority.  This sometimes leads to respect issues.
  • Attitudes from outside friends and family that martial arts activities are not feminine.
  • A lack of other female competitors and training partners.
  • Biological feminine issues, such as monthly cycles and pregnancy.
