The MARSIPAN report has identified the challenges faced by young people, families and clinicans when young people with eating disorders are admitted to adult medical units. The junior MARSIPAN project team was established in January 2010 with the following aims and objectives:

Develop national evidence and best practice based guidelines for management of children and young people with eating disorders - Audit
How many children and young people with eating disorders are currently cared for on paediatric wards? - Training
Determine the training needs of paediatricians and build on the resources present in the Adolescent Health Project - Research
Establish research priorities and a national research network for children and young people with eating disorders -
Network
Build a network of experienced professionals to share ideas, resources and best practice.
The project team consists of experienced paediatricians, dieticians and psychiatrists with an interest in children and young people with eating disorders. The project will run for two years from January 2010 and is at present unfunded.
