Reproductive and feeding strategies

One of my major research interests is the adaptation and plasticity of marine animal strategies in relation to various marine environments. I studied the effect of food availability on the reproductive and feeding strategies in fiddler crabs. I found for the first time in marine animals that male reproductive rhythm in Uca lactea is influenced by food availability depending on semilunar tidal cycles (Kim & Choe 2003 Behav Ecol Sociobiol, Kim et al. 2004 J Ethol). They also decide whether to court or not based on the trade-off between courtship and feeding (Kim et al. 2008 Behav Ecol Sociobiol). I also studied the reproductive strategies of two sexes of Uca terpsichores in response to variation in food availability. Food addition increased  male courtship activity especially in the latter part of reproductive cycle but females did not change thieir mate-searching activity. (Kim et al. 2010 Mar Prog Ecol Ser)
