Marlee Green Planet

Our Story!

What fuels a friendship and eventually a business partnership? Well, in order to answer that question, one needs to know Mount Airy. Mount Airy is a tucked away, beautiful section of Philadelphia that has a main strip located right on Germantown Avenue. It's not surprising to see the same person along this strip several times a day in different locations. Locals will work all day in the coffee shop, run across the street to the gym for a quick workout, and then finish off the night with a pint from either the Irish pub or the earth-friendly brewery. Chances are, if you live in Mount Airy, you know your neighbors.

Our story is one of those Mount Airy tales. While working in both the local coffee shop and the brewery, Lee happened to know who Marin was...not by name, but by her daily large cup of coffee (or Americano, depending on the barista on hand), specific breakfast wrap orders, and the beers she drank. Marin knew Lee as the surly barista in the morning and the much more energetic server at night.

And then it happened...Marin came into the brewery wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers shirt. "That's it," Lee thought. "I want to be friends with this girl. How many other beer drinking, coffee loving, Steelers fans are in this city?!" (Probably more than we realize, but Marin was the first that Lee had met.)

Turns out, Marin was thinking the same thing. An immediate friendship was formed.

Conversations during half-time of the Steelers playoff games brought out another similarity. We both love to write. We recognize the beautiful pain that can sometimes accompany writing and also the amazing feeling after finishing a piece. Marlee Green Planet grew out of this. We strive to work hard but also love the work that we do.
