Protest Government/Amazon Censorship!

The website Wikileaks, which has revealed thousands of secret government documents exposing government lies and war crimes, has been “ousted” by Amazon Web Services in the U.S., after a mere phone call to Amazon from Senator Lieberman’s Homeland Security Committee. This is pure government intimidation and censorship.

I am calling for a time-limited boycott of Amazon.com and its online store for the holiday period, to send a message that the First Amendment must be defended. Amazon’s capitulation to the government is akin to AT&T’s acquiescence to the National Security Agency’s illegal warrantless surveillance program, which I blew the whistle on in 2006.

AT&T and the NSA got a reprieve from court suits because the Congress gave them retroactive immunity for their crimes. Now the Congress and the two parties, in the form of the Homeland Security Committee, have decided to become a domestic censorship agency, another step on the road to pure tyranny.

Don’t shop Amazon during the holidays! Demand that Amazon restore Wikileaks’ servers in the U.S.!

Update--Dec. 3, 2010

The Wikileaks website is now under cyber attack and is unreachable when you enter that name in your web browser. However, you can bypass the Domain Name Server and reach the website directly by entering the IP address: 88.80.13.160

Update--Dec. 4, 2010

PayPal has announced that it is now refusing to process money for Wikileaks, joining an escalating government-coordinated campaign of harassment and intimidation.

You can still donate money to Wikileaks, or to the more specific Julian Assange Defence Fund, by going to this address at Wikileaks:

http://213.251.145.96/support.html

You can send a protest note to PayPal at their website https://www.paypal.com/, after logging into your account.

Update--Dec. 5, 2010

It appears that now even the above IP addresses are being blocked. But meanwhile, mirror sites for Wikileaks are springing up all over the globe. This is cyber warfare.

You can find a mirror site by googling "wikileaks mirror sites". One such list of active sites can be found at: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/79s9r1

The list keeps changing. You can follow tweets with updated information by going to Twitter and following the comments about wikileaks on Twitter:

Twitter postings from Wikileaks itself are at their Twitter account at:

Note: The following blurb was posted in July 2009, when I self-published my book via BookSurge, which is now unfortunately owned by Amazon. If you are planning to buy, please wait to Jan. 2011, and send a protest message to Amazon about their ousting of Wikileaks! --MK
