The website Wikileaks, which has revealed thousands of secret government documents exposing government lies and war crimes, has been “ousted” by Amazon Web Services in the U.S., after a mere phone call to Amazon from Senator Lieberman’s Homeland Security Committee. This is pure government intimidation and censorship. I am calling for a time-limited boycott of Amazon.com and its online store for the holiday period, to send a message that the First Amendment must be defended. Amazon’s capitulation to the government is akin to AT&T’s acquiescence to the National Security Agency’s illegal warrantless surveillance program, which I blew the whistle on in 2006. AT&T and the NSA got a reprieve from court suits because the Congress gave them retroactive immunity for their crimes. Now the Congress and the two parties, in the form of the Homeland Security Committee, have decided to become a domestic censorship agency, another step on the road to pure tyranny. Don’t shop Amazon during the holidays! Demand that Amazon restore Wikileaks’ servers in the U.S.!
