Our small team of three have children who were recently in elementary school, high school and university. We have over 100 years of combined experience with both the academic AND practical side of the humanities subject areas.  We decided to establish Markham Tutors as a result of trying to find a math tutor for one of our sons. It was very difficult finding someone who not only understood math, but also had the teaching skills required AND the ability to actually help him with his immediate needs --- to improve his understanding and grades! A small, local tutoring service for students in our neighbourhoods.... Markham Tutors is different than those big learning centres with corporate ties and their eyes on bottom line profits. And we're different than those so-called tutors who claim they have a network of tutors and can send a tutor to you no matter where you live. We like to call those "Dial-a-Tutor." They're in it for the money too! The real bottom line is they care more about profits than they do your kids' academic challenges, goals, achievements, marks and future ambitions. We know. We tried them and discovered our dollars disappearing for no reason. Trial-and-error resulted in an enormous amount of wasted time and money. "The Dial-a-Tutor & so-called learning centres are NOT the answer to our kids' academic improvement. Our kids need someone who cares... someone who's NOT in the business of teaching for bottom-line profits. They need a mentor & coach who gets to know them & understands their unique needs."

We were instructors at various institutions for many years.
