You MUST have a contact page on your site! How else will that Client contact you to say "We want your work!"?
A Good rule of thumb is to include your snail mail address and your telephone number, but be careful about putting your email address out there for all to see. There are these people called "Spammers" that prey on loose email addresses. Before you know it your email account will be swarmed by offers for Viagra. So, instead of simply placing your email address, try incorporating a contact form that the interested party would fill out. You can do this by going to Google Documents and creating a Spreadsheet form. Then insert it into your Google Site, as I have done below:
| After the customer has contacted you - BE CERTAIN TO FOLLOW UP!!!
- Email the interested party to say you received the contact form, and specify when you will be calling them.
- Do Your Research: I
included in my sample form a field for the client to enter their
website. I did this for a reason, I want you to check out the website
BEFORE contacting the person back. This allows you to be more informed
about the person, who they are, what they do, what their interest in
you MAY be.
- Call them at the set time. And TAKE NOTES!!
- Ask Questions and NEVER give a price right away. Let them know that you need to think about their specific needs in order to give you the best possible estimate.
- Send them a follow up note after the conversation. Email is nice, but handwritten notes are better. Check out a Really Cool Card Company that is worth the investment for your promotional materials and thank you cards. Let me know if you are interested, and I will be glad to share with you all of the possible marketing ideas this company provides.
