On a more personal note...

I have been extensively involved in volunteering in my community, something that is very important to me.  I serve as a board member, community/police committee member, and a fundraising committee member for the Nassau County chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union.  In addition, I am a commissioner for the parks and recreation commission at the Village of Westbury. I enjoy volunteering as a Nassau County political party committee member, helping to elect New York State assemblymen, senators, Nassau County court judges, legislators, Town of North Hempstead councilmen/women, and Town clerks.  I have been a peer mentor for the Northeastern Regional Biofeedback Society, and have served on the Health and Development Committees of Long Island Women's Agenda (LIWA), one of the largest coalitions of women's organizations on Long Island.   My current position on the board of directors of LIWA is V.P. Health.

In the past , I served on the board of directors of the Biofeedback Society of New York and the Northeastern Regional Biofeedback Society for over 10 years as past president and treasurer and helped to found the Biofeedback and Behavioral Health Practitioners Guild, serving on its board of directors as secretary.  My professional membership affiliations have included the Northeastern Regional Biofeedback Society, the New York State Counseling Association, the New York State Mental Health Counseling Association, the Business and Professional Women/USA, American Civil Liberties Union, the Independent Business Women’s Circle, and Long Island Women's Agenda.

I am originally from Europe, Copenhagen, Denmark specifically, and have enjoyed traveling around the world embracing multi-culturalism and practicing my multi-linguistics having lived in Denmark, Holland, and Austria.  One of the most thrilling experiences in my life was getting into the cockpit and taxiing a Boeing 747 airplane to its final destination - the Pan Am Jet Center at JFK Airport (this of course second to the birth of my sons and my marriage).  In my spare time, I enjoy crafting gift baskets that are donated to non-profit organizations for fund-raising purposes and helping wherever I can to those in need.  I love doing geneology research on my ancestry using Nederland's Patriciaat book and the internet.  I am extremely fortunate to be sole-cargiver to my beloved 89 year old mother who lives a few houses from my home.  I  currently live on Long Island with my cherished family - my husband, three sons, and our adorable rescued Siberian Husky puppy - Sasha.
