"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." Groucho Marx
The Snug Harbor Community School in the Germantown neighborhood of Quincy, Massachusetts serves almost 250 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The library is home to almost 9,000 books as well as educational videos, periodicals, reference materials, and teaching kits. The library's computers provide students with the technology to access information outside the school walls.
The goals of the library are to foster the love of reading, teach information literacy skills within the context of the curriculum, enhance classroom curriculum instruction, and provide a wide range of quality children's literature. The library is managed by media specialist Peggy O'Neill. We've recently come across a great newsletter about school library programs for parents of elementary and middle school students. The first issue was devoted to the school library link to reading readiness. Check it out at http://www.theschoollibrarylink.com/thismonth PicasaWeb Slideshow |
"Through the use of books, I had the whole world at my feet, could travel anywhere, meet anyone, and do anything." Benjamin Carson
