Adding Regions

To add a region:
  1. Click the Polygon tool Polygon tool.
  2. Select the type. Enter text to find an appropriate choice. 
  3. Draw the outlines/boundary of the place of interest.
  4. Double-click to end the drawing. Alternatively, press ENTER to end the drawing.
  5. Edit the attributes of the place of interest in the info window.

About Political Regions

Types of political regions include:

(0) Country - This is highest level political region. These have already been drawn.

(1) State - This is the first level of division within a country. These may also be known as provinces, regions, governorates, etc. Most of these have already been drawn.

(2) District - This is the second level of division within a country, dividing the State into further divisions. These may also be known as counties, departments, etc. Not all countries may have this division.

(3) Minor Civil Divisions - This is the third level of division within a country, dividing the District into further divisions. These may also be known as municipalities, communes, etc. Not all countries may have this division.

(4) City / Town / Village - This political region denotes an area in which people live. All countries have these divisions.

(5) Locality - A locality is a region within a city. These may also be known as boroughs or neighborhoods. Not all cities may have this division.

(6) Sub-Locality / Neighborhood - This is the smallest political region. It can be but does not have to be a division of a Locality. Not all cities may have this division.

Other - Other political regions include: Administrative Area, Colloquial Area, Constituency, Designated Market Area, Municipal boundary, National election boundary, Police jurisdriction limits, Political, School District, State election boundary, Tribal Reservation
