Soledad Salome was born on 1954  in Santiago Chile. She now lives in Baltimore, Maryland and works full time as a mixed media artist. In 1972 Soledad received her B.A from Santiago College and an M.A. from Graphic Arts Institute. She is always going towards the organic, fluit and the wet. She is known for making paper by hand.  Salame’s paintings seem the result of a sort of composting of mixed media. Salome works alot with patterns, textures- scaliness, curliness, waviness, the -esses that our eyes catch and our gray matter can’t really understand.

Soledad  Salome has created many paitings that encourage other artist to do similar things as her. She is an environmental artist known for her installations and use of organic materials. Salamé also tirelessly experiments with media and materials, using her own mixture of resins, pigments, and traditional media. These powerful paintings evoke the motion of waterfalls, rivers, and currents in cascades of layered washes. For example, this picture shows how she uses nature to create her art work.

Soledad is part of the Support Opportunities program which helps women who are in need by encouraging them with her art work. Soledad attends a work shop with a few woman who need help creating  art work.  These woman create art to receive money for things they need. Salome helps them create art with organic materials so they won't have to waiste a lot of money in materials they can create on their own. This picture below sh0ws Soledad during a family festival.

Soledad's Art work connects to Cradle to Cradle because she recycles objects to create her own art work. She  tries to be "less bad" by creating her own organic materials. Soledad does this because she cares about the environment and wants to encourage others to do the same as her. She believes that if we all start creating a little a day we will inprove the environment and get more out of it.

This has help me learn how other people do care about the environtment and i should start to do the same. It wont hurt me to do a little a day to help  myself and the environment. Soledad has encourage me to create organic materials to make my own art work for my art class.
