Gala Day is held on 02 January every year.
This Day is designed for three main purposes:
- provide the Mangawhai Community and visitors a fun carnival atmosphere with events, entertainment, rides, food and shopping
- give stallholders and concessionaires a great merchandising opportunity
- fund raising for the Domain (more than 70% of our routine annual income is from Gala Day.
Attendance is now about 7000 each year.
The event is run entirely by about 100 volunteers and with significant support by the business community.
Normal hours:
0600 - gates open for stallholders
0800 - last entry by stallholders
0900 - nominal time for public entry (many come earlier - but we try and avoid conflict between public and stall-holder set-up).
1400 - nominal close, but can be later or earlier depending on the public.
