Wise Old Owl Sez . . . . . For Parents and Teachers

Noted Author Dr. Haim Ginott (Between Parent and Child)

“I have come to a frightening conclusion.

I am the decisive element in the classroom.
It is my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather.
As a teacher I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous.
I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration.
I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.
In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a child humanized or de-humanized.”

"Every child is born a genius."

Richard Buckminster Fuller

"In the final analysis it is not what you do for your children but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings."
Ann Landers

"There's nothing that can help you understand your beliefs more than trying to explain them to an inquisitive child."
Frank A. Clark

"If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers."
Edgar W. Howe

"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."
Frederick Douglass

"If you haven't time to respond to a tug at your pants leg, your schedule is too crowded."
Robert Brault

Become a Volunteer, Join the Apple Corps!

Our school cannot be successful without our core resource, you the parents!   Apple Corps Is the name for the group of parents that volunteer. There are many opportunities for parents to help in school.  Projects may include work room for the teacher, PTO projects, field trips, class events, school activities, or time to do some work at home.  Time commitments vary, and we appreciate any time at all that you can give!  To become a volunteer, just come into the office and fill out the register to volunteer information on the computer.  You will need a Photo ID. It only takes a few minutes. All volunteers must fill out the computer application.

We need you and hope to see you as a frequent volunteer in our school.

What Is the PTO and who can be a Member?

Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our schools with funds, programs, resources and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child.  To meet this important objective, and to afford services that are no longer covered by our school budgets, we must hold fundraisers, and we limit our major fundraisers to only two per school year. More information about these fund raisers will be coming the next few weeks.  In addition to fundraising, each year we have a membership drive. Becoming a member does not mean you automatically sign up to volunteer, it just means you support our group and believe in what we're doing. Membership donations of $3.00 per family can be sent in any time during the school year. Just place the donation along with a brief note with your family information in an envelope addressed to PTO and send it in to your child's teacher.  You membership donation goes towards paying for supplies and other classroom materials that the teachers may not otherwise have access to.
We hope to see you at our next PTO meeting on Wednesday, November 16th at 2:40 p.m.
