Francesco Manaresi
I am Principal Economist at the Bank of Italy - Directorate of Economics and Statistics. Previously, I headed the Productivity and Business Dynamics team at the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation of the OECD.
Most of my works are at the intersect of finance, banking, and industrial organization.
I've analysed both theoretically and empirically the sources and implications of capital (mis)allocation, the real effects of credit supply, how better access to external finance affects the growth of innovative firms, and the consequences of market concentration in financial and real sectors.
As side interests, I have studied financial literacy, intertemporal consumption, and housing markets.
My research has been featured in the Economist, Bloomberg and ilSole24Ore (the main Italian economic newspaper). I am a columnist at VoxEU and LaVoce.info.
