The current volunteer schedule is attached (see below) Room 8 Volunteer Job Descriptions (in alphabetical order by job) Previous experience NOT required! Training provided, as needed. - Class Prep volunteers refill paper bins, make weekly copies, sharpen pencils, maintain the audiobooks (charge & change batteries, rotate tapes/cds, etc.), repair library books, and prep other materials per class needs. - Computer lab volunteers make sure the computers are on and the program of choice is open. Volunteers help groups of 6-8 students get started and support them as they go through the program, helping them follow the on-screen directions, cheering them on, etc. Rotations last about 20 minutes and are coordinated with rotations to the library. - Family Fun Fest volunteers put together the class booth (teacher has the booth materials) and coordinate scheduling with each other for the FFF. - Friday folder check-in helpers check in each child’s FF, organize & log all FF contents (e.g., field trip money, permission slips, chaperone forms, homework, etc.), have children check their backpacks for missing FF, HW, or other items, then personally double-check the backpacks if items are still missing. Monday mornings. - Friday folder prep helpers file graded assignments and other items. Then they stuff the Friday folders and coordinate getting the FF into backpacks. Friday afternoons (or Thursday, if Friday is a holiday). - Gala Auction volunteers work in September with the school-wide Gala Auction committee & help with the class contribution, delivering it to the committee when completed. May involve doing artsy-craftsy work with students, as well as some shopping. - Homework check-in helpers check in homework. Friday mornings. - Library helpers help children find books, check books in and out, and read the children a story at the school library. Groups of 6-8 children visit the library at a time. Rotations are coordinated with the Computer lab and Reading/Writing in the library and run about 20 minutes. - Personal Reading Buddy works through Mrs. Nelson’s special program, with her special training and materials, meets with a student once each week all year (or till student is graduated out of program). Days/times to be arranged according to individual needs. Student may be in another class. - Our photographer takes pictures and also collects pictures that other parents take of our class on field trips, special days, & any day. We’d love to have a class album that is updated once a month or so. The kids really love looking at these pictures. Also, upload pictures to class Snapfish account. No reference can be made to the children’s last names or our whereabouts (school name & address, home addresses, or city name) so the kids stay safe! - Room parents 1. put together a family phone tree in case

recruit parents for two activity stations + coordinate with parents for potluck
for students, - Tutors for individual or small group work in math or reading/writing work on skills with students, as directed by teacher. Examples of activities include hands-on counting, adding, subtracting, math fact practice or review, playing math games, reading, or work with word families or sight words. Timing to be determined according to mutual needs. - Water Supply volunteers pick up empty drinking water bottles in the classroom, then clean, refill, and return them to the classroom. The front office sometimes has a cart to help with that job. Enrichment class volunteer jobs available: * Agriculture – help teacher supervise students in garden, help water garden, lead/assist smaller groups of students with their assignments - first semester only * Art – help teacher distribute materials, and organize artwork in children’s art portfolios, clean up classroom after art * Spanish – help teacher distribute materials, help children as Maestra needs (individual or small group assistance, games, activities), clean up classroom after Spanish.
