My name is Danielle DeRome. I earned my elementary teaching credential at Cal State TEACH, Monterey Bay, and did all of my student teaching at CSMH. I’ve been in teaching since I was 14, when I began tutoring children in ESL in Spain, where I grew up. I lived for a few months in New York City, to finish high school and then returned to Barcelona to study ceramics and enameling at the Escola Massana. While in school, I worked as a translator and also taught ESL to children and adults. At some point, I spent several months in Egypt. Then, on a short trip to my home town in California, I met my husband, Guy. He joined me for a year in Spain. We returned to California so I could go back to school, this time for a B.S. & M.S. in biology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Guy is an electronics engineer and musician. We have two wonderful daughters, Madeleine and Camille. Madeleine has just finished her degree in Language Studies and History at U.C. Santa Cruz. She is tutoring reading, writing, and math at The Reading Clinic, saving up for a grad program abroad. Camille is in 10th grade at the new Flex Charter High School. She enjoys tutoring various subjects and is saving up for med. school so she can become a surgeon. We have two adorable pound cats named Jack and Lucy. We love playing outdoors and in our 116-year-old home in Morgan Hill. I am really excited to be teaching first grade again this year. |
