Does public good-will still exist? It's a difficult question to answer. With the fast paced life of today's population, it would seem that good-will has all but disappeared. People are more interested in which mobile phone they should have and which boots they should buy next week, or which is the trendiest bar to be seen in. Whilst sparing no thought for another. They seem to have lost track that they live in an era that has the best products, prices and technology and anything they have is far better than their parents would have had and are always trying to better themselves. But, I haven't lost faith in mankind and believe that good-will still exists. So, let's test it!! A friend once told me that the first million is the hardest to achieve and I'm not disputing this fact. However, I think that with help from others and a friendlier attitude, it could be much simpler than he makes out. Once this is raised, the interest alone would be sufficient for any average man in turn to give large monthly donations to charity and local causes, or to families affected by personal hardships. So... I have set myself a challenge. To raise a million and see how long it takes. This will be purely through the public's good-will and with your help, by donating small insignificant amounts from Paypal accounts (even a few pennies if it is all you can afford) we can identify if good-will is a lost cause, or not. Any person or business that donates can request an addition of their logo on this page to show that they have contributed to this cause. The size of their logo will be in direct relation to their donation, on a pound per pixel basis (Minimum viewable area 10x10 pixels) and may include a hyperlink on the page. But let's try and hold on to the fact, that we believe good-will still exists and see where this goes. You never know what might happen, or how big this could get. Let's try and get a gifted child into college, provide animals with shelter, contribute to regeneration areas, or even pay an elderly persons gas bill. I hear people questioning, why should we donate to make someone else a millionaire? The answer to that is simple. This isn't essentially for any one person, but for the people that can benefit from the passing forward of the good-will, not just to charities, but also to normal peole and families in need, that are often forgotten. Just the cost of a beer, or a packet of chewing-gum is enough. So, don't be mean and drop a little in the pot. These are not to be considered prizes, but good-will gestures.
At the end of the project and only once the £1.Million is raised, £25,000 (or equivilent by currency) will be given to the contributor donating the largest amount, to do with as they see fit.
I will also give £1,000 (or equivilent by currency) to 25 contributors, HALF of which, they MUST give away and pass forward their good-will to an unrelated person or organisation. Start date: Saturday 3rd October 2009. Current balance as of 09/11/09: £18.73 Remaining Balance: £999,981.27 If you would prefer to donate directly to charity, then my personal choice would be The MND Association, having recently lost a member of my family to this wicked dibilitating disease. They assist sufferers and carers of patients affected by Motor Neurons Disease. Please follow this link to their official site. http://www.mndassociation.org/get_involved/donations/make_a_donation.html This website is not a charitable organisation. It is a private project. However, monies from the interest of anything raised may be donated to charitable causes and anything given directly though the official charity link above. This page is merely a test of the public's good-will and no goods are offered and no returns will be made, nor should be expected in respect of your donation, other than a feel-good factor you may personally get from making a small donation. The chance of being selected for the good-will gifts is relative to the number of people donating and subject to the final amount hitting target. This is not a site intending to extort money from persons in any manner, of any particular background, income level, race, sexual orientation, charitable event, church group, or government. It is simply a proof test to verify if the general public are still willing to give to complete strangers, as well as charitable organisations and families in need, that can benefit from their donation. If you do not feel that you would be comfortable donating a small amount to this project, or you feel your rights, or beliefs would be infringed, then please DO NOT donate. The terms of this site can be changed at any time. The charitable linkmay change over time to benefit other charities and organisations. |
