Spring Has Sprung!
A Must Read...and re-read!
Easter Sunday was a very appropriate time for Fr. Bekeh, associate pastor of St. Margaret Mary Parish and chaplain of PCHS, to release his newest book, God's Plan for You- Receiving Your Blessings In Difficult Times. I immediately took the book home after Easter Mass, began to read, and a few short hours later finished reading a book that inspires even the most downtrodden person to find and acknowledge God's plan. Difficult times are defined in many different ways; however, the theme that God has a plan for each person no matter what the time is vividly portrayed through examples and supported by scripture throughout the book. Chapter seven, Give and You Will Be Blessed, is my favorite because it brings home the message that we as a Catholic community have been concentrating on since the Capital Campaign commenced. Fr. Bekeh says, "There are two ways in which Christians are called upon to give, and these ways conform to the central commandment of the Christian faith, 'Love God, love one another'. The first way to give is giving directly to God. The second way is to give to those God has placed around you." These are powerful words applicable to everyone regardless of economic status because everyone can give; giving is NOT always monetary. Read the book and be inspired to find God's plan for you!
Our Faith...Our Future!
Our capital campaign has been very successful as we are nearing the two million dollar mark and counting! Our goal is to have EVERY family and every individual within the family make a personal commitment (sacrifice) to the campaign so that the mission of Catholic education will continue and thrive in the 21st Century. It is not possible for everyone to give an equal monetary sum to the campaign but it is possible for every person to make an equal sacrifice to the campaign. The faculty and staff of the Parkersburg Catholic Schools have answered the call and over 81% have made a commitment. The school families are lagging behind that percentage but have time to step up to meet the challenge. It would be an awesome statement to be able to say that 100% of our faculty, students, staff, school families, parish families, community supporters, and alumni are making an equal sacrifice to promote Catholic education for our posterity! Let's make every effort to be able to make that statement.
