The Maine Council for English Language Arts is the Maine affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English. MCELA provides Maine teachers of English language arts with opportunities to reflect upon and improve their teaching practices. Its activities include working to: • raise professional standards for the education and preparation of teachers of English language arts; • provide opportunities for teacher development; • improve the quality of English language arts learning and teaching in Maine schools.
