he M.A. in Development Studies offered at Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary programme that prepares students for leadership roles in the development sector through training in policy making, planning, process documentation, public-private partnership and civil society outreach. The course enhances students ability to critically explore and understand a variety of development issues and interrogate existing practices; to develop analytical capacities in order to understand issues from a inter-disciplinary perspective; to advance an acumen to grapple with complex issues related to social and economic development; and to cultivate new and alternative approaches to development policy and implementation. The course necessitates that students use software packages for data analysis such as SPSS in addition to intensive classes on research methodology, qualitative and quantitative.
