This Batteau Festival was one of the biggest trips the Venture Crew did. It was an 8 day canoe trip in which the crew followed the Batteaus down the James River. Our journey took us from Lynchburg to Maiden's Landing, enough to earn us the 50 Miler patch at least twice. Throughout the trip, two of us would stay off the river for a day and help the adult leader ferrying our stuff set up camp.
There was one very valuable lesson I learned on this trip however. Never tent near train tracks. Trains are very loud at that range. They also sound like they're about to run you over. |
