Welcome to AP World History!
*Historical Units: History is a LOT of dates and events and people. For the sake of simplicity, AP World History has been divided into 5 units. Know these units and those 10 dates (the beginning and end dates) and why they're significant. Be able to sort events into those time periods, rather than memorizing a ton of dates (unless you really want to!). Here is my simple yet handy C O LOR coding system for each time period: Unit I - 8,000 BCE-600 CE
This is your text. Textbook: Bulliet, The Earth and Its Peoples, 4th Ed. Learn to love it! It's actually a pretty good, well-organized and readable book. You will be reading 1-2 chapters per week. Textbook Site - good quizzes, very helpful glossary (you should just study all those terms in that glossary!) I recomend you click on Improve Your Grade and play with the chronology puzzle or the flashcards.
*Writing: Almost as important as the history part of this course, is the writing part. The skill of being able to write well, within a given time period, is probably one of the most helpful skills you will need in college and the future, whichever is more important to you! (These succinct writing styles help you the most in the PSAT, SAT and college. Sorry, I can't guarantee what's going to happen in your future!)
