Overview: Students will be introduced to the concept of data analysis. The students will learn how to investigate a problem through the use of statistical data analysis that involves four steps: defining the problem, collecting the data, analyzing the data, and reporting the results.

Objectives: The student will be able to:

• Understand the process through which statistics works
• Demonstrate understanding of data analysis by posing questions to be answered by collecting data
• Understand and apply the processes of linear regression for curve fitting using appropriate technology
• Investigate issues when using data to explore the relationship between two variables, including confusion between correlation and causation
