Dr. Madhavi Menon Bharatanatyam Dancer
Madhavi Menon has trained in the Thanjavoor bani of Bharatanatyam (a classical Indian dance form) by Padmashri Guru Smt. Geeta Chandran of 'Natya Vriksha' New Delhi, India.Madhavi has to her credit numerous performances-both as a solo artiste and as a member of the Natya Vriksha dance company. Notable performances include the 13th Konark Dance Festival- Orissa, ‘Her Voice’, ‘Seeking Vishnu’ and ‘Sivam’ (presented at the First National Festival of New Choreographies, New Delhi). In
a performing career spanning close to a decade, Madhavi has danced extensively in New Delhi, other parts of India, as well as
the United States of America. She has
also conducted lecture demonstrations on Indian classical dance for
varied audiences, ranging from university dance students to the
corporate sector. She has also served on the board of world dance panelists for the National Foundation for Advancements in Arts for the past eight years. Madhavi has a PhD in Developmental Psychology from Florida AtlanticUniversity, and is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at Nova Southeastern University.
