MACUL Model Classroom 2011

This site contains information for people interested in participating in the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) Model Classroom, which is held as part of the MACUL Conference.  The 2011 Conference will be at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan on March 16-18. The classroom will display cutting edge and proven technology AND showcase innovative uses of technology in K-12 classrooms.  Short sessions will be geared to the teaching of Michigan Educational Technology Standards (METS), including classroom management and assessment.

Proposals are being accepted now for vendors and educators to participate.  We are looking for presentations that are about 20 minutes in length, with about 30 minutes of Q & A and hands-on exploration by participants.  See information below.

Educators:  If you have a cutting edge lesson or demonstration that you believe could help other educators teach and meet the METS, please submit an educator proposal.  Between 5-7 slots will be awarded to educators. We are most interested in ideas which work in classrooms using technologies that are new to education.  Apply by filling out the "Educator Proposal" form from the navigation menu on the right.

Vendors:  If you are interested, please submit a proposal for one or more of your products which could be used to help educators meet the METS. Between 4-6 slots will be awarded to vendors. It would make sense to do a presentation along with a practicing K-12 teacher; someone who uses your product and can personalize the presentation by describing how your technology is used with studetns to meet the METS.  We require the vendor to be responsible for the product setup, install, license issues, tech support, and dismantle, but in order to save time, we do take care of most software installs.

Because of the possibility of competing similar products, MACUL will select the best proposal to avoid duplication and promote continuity. However, vendors not selected with similar products will be listed with contact information in the model classroom product description handout to be given to all conference model classroom attendees.  Please note that a select group of vendors will be chosen to present in the model classroom. Apply by filling out the "Vendor Proposal" form from the navigation menu on the right.
