Macomb Reunion

I remember these events:
  • Political awakening with Eugene McCarthy in the neighborhood and John Eaton school "elections" (Humphrey defeated Nixon.)
  • Our family putting up people from the poor people's campaign, and setting up a Kool-Aid stand on 34th Place with Anand, to raise money for it. Seeing the shacks at Resurrection City by the Reflecting Pool.
  • People going to school with transistor radios the day Robert Kennedy was shot.
  • Writing poems in school the day Martin Luther King was shot.
  • Two or three years later, those huge anti-war demonstrations on the Mall.
Here is a link to the BBC 1968 web site, which has a lot of interesting material.
