I just completed my PhD study at School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University in August 2006. My research is about Human Computer Interaction and Design Computing. From 1990-1994, I was a design student in School of Design, Southern Yangtze University. From 1994-2000, I was a Teaching Assistant and then Lecturer in the same university, teaching design visualization and CAD courses. In 2000, my focus was changed a little when I joined in a research group led by Prof John Hamilton Frazer , in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The group had a research initiative in using AI in Design. During that time, I swallowed a lot of hard stuff such as Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Computer Arts and Artificial Intelligence. (The experience in the group really gave me a fantastic perspective to see future vision of design) In January 2002, I started my PhD study and was supervised by Prof John Hamilton Frazer and Dr Ming Xi Tang. The PhD research tried to formulate human aesthetic criteria in computer using an evolutionary system in conjunction with probabilistic learning algorithms. (Please to see my research for more information.) Presently, I’m undertaking a project commissioned by the Bureau of the Shanghai (2010) World Expo Coordination to investigate how new and potential HCI technologies could reform exhibitions, to give the public pleasurable and impressive experiences of visiting.
