Black names & family pages are our ancestral families mostly verified by way of birth, marriage or death certificates, birth, baptism, marriage or death registers, census records, military records and/or printed publications.

PLEASE NOTE: Possible names, places, dates etc. in italicised green or blue are the results of my researching and not attributed to the named source(s).

Purple names & family pages are families and people distantly related to us OR related by marriage.

Family pages & italicised names in green are probable but not verified.  They are the results of my Internet sleuthing.  Like the names mentioned below, they're included as a prompt to myself or any other researcher, for further research.

Family pages & italicised names in blue are possible but not verified(The names, dates and locations of one verified married couple in the late 1600s lead to these early branches being investigated.  Being 'gentry', it wasn't difficult to find their family trees and other information in printed publications.)
This information should be treated with caution, especially the earlier generations.  It has been obtained from other sources' family trees, printed publications and the IGI.  I have tried to add the sources where applicable.

People for whom there is a biography, are highlighted turquoise.

If I have photos, certificates, census records or information about a person, that person's name is highlighted yellow and may be linked to another page.

Linked websites that relate to a person, place or event in some way are highlighted orange.

Use of brackets, inverted commas & italics

MAIDEN NAMES

All women are listed under their maiden names.

SURNAMES
Where a surname has been known to have several different spellings, I've put in all names separated with /, e.g. Ranson / Ransom.

Where a surname has changed, either by error or design, I've put in all names separated with >, e.g. Scrimager > Scriminger > Scrimmager.

"NICKNAMES"
Where a person went by a nickname, I've put that nickname in "inverted commas".

(MIDDLE NAMES)
Where a person was known by a middle name, I've put that name in (brackets).

PROBABILITIES & POSSIBILITIES
Possible names and dates etc. are italicised.
