My album, The Water's Edge, has now been finished, and we're starting to work on the artwork while we get it mastered.
It was produced by Paul Savage (who's worked with such illustrious acts as Arab Strap, Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand and The Phantom Band) in his studio in Glasgow.
It's been pretty intense, but also very exciting. I'm also over the moon to report that the composer Nico Muhly has arranged various beautiful bits and pieces for several of the tracks.
![]() A Year Better Spent now available to buy No, this isn't the new album - that's still being tweaked. This is the collection of 26 songs I released on a weekly basis for the first 6 months of 2010. Saturday 7th May - King's Place concert with Nico Muhly
I'll be playing a couple of songs from the album as part of an evening with Nico and the Aurora Orchestra. Here's some bumf on the evening - (I'm playing the after-show).
If anyone rivals Thomas Ades for the title of the planet's hottest composer it's the young Nico Muhly.
The Telegraph
Aurora Orchestra welcomes America's outstanding young composer for a mini-series which looks to the stars and fires the imagination. Marking the launch of Aurora's new recording for Decca, these performances reflect Muhly's eclectic influences, ranging from Byrd, Gibbons and Purcell to iconic American works by Ives and Adams.
