HOW TO BUILD BETTER HUMANOID ROBOTS?

PRACTICAL ISSUES


1) Avoid “thinking like a standard human”: I mean you need to understand that  humans have a lot of limitations on their body and mind; just forget for a moment what someone told you: that we are a great product of God or because a Doctor, a biologist or an anatomist told you that we are very complex structures so = the Wonder of the Universe. The complex structure condition is not always related to practical or useful structures for all the situations; human bodies and skills have a lot to do with the ambient in our evolution or transformation. We have a good potential but also a lot of limitations. So what you can do is to try to replace those limitations with the robot instead of trying to do just a copy of a human, animal or an insect. Today thanks to many new technologies it is possible. Then it will really start to make sense to build humanoid robots and you will be able to massively sell it on the Markets. For example: If the human eyes allows you to see just what is in front of  your self, do not just copy this "natural mistake", try to find the way to have a 360º view (horizontal and vertical also).  A robot do not need hair to protect its head from the Sun rays or the cold weather, so you can profit the entire head area to see or even to make possible to collect solar energy.  You can also try to have different angles; humanoid robots do not necessarily need to see thanks to the head area, you can put little cameras in other parts of its body or even use wireless video cameras or sensors. Or you can use different view levels like infrared or thermal...  Watch: VISION . As you can see you can even avoid the head if it is not necessary for your needs. Or you can use an oval head with flexible screen all around to project the image of a face or faces around the head; it is depending on your needs. A human face, hair and other natural details on the robot its important if you want to build sexy robots; in those terms or oriented to that market can make sense... for example.

Two more important ideas to keep in mind: what did help humans to be more intelligent is that they can use tools with the hands or feet, while keeping moving and communicating at the same time. A robot can do more than that and with the help of many more technological tools (software & hardware). So, a good question you should ask your self every time you improve or build a robot part or tool is: How can this part or issue for the robot be better than a human, animal, insect or material to help humans?

2) Autonomous robots are good but if you do not make them teleoperated and interactive; you will not really help humans. Which means better robots who can show the image of a person or video with a flexible non fixed screen and to be able to receive commands from any place in the World. This single issue will allow to replace humans in many activities, reduce costs, avoid people to travel from a place to an other and allow you to make more money by using robots. For example; a teacher in a University: if he just can activate a humanoid robot from its home, that will expand its body limitations because the robot will be in the laboratory or even in your own home, when ever you like. Plus if it has a non fixed flexible digital screen on its back and/or in front or a video laser projector ; he will be able to teach around the World, very easily. A robot do not need to write on a blackboard; he can hear, record and convert that information directly into text plus send it around the Planet with the Internet or give you information from it. And students once they learn to write with the hand and pen they do not need anymore to do it all the days at the school, this is a lost of time also.

It is better to learn languages with the computer because it indicates you the grammar mistakes or you just can talk (voice recognition Software) and the program will write saving you a lot of time. The same for drawing; today is not a problem to draw things on a digital screen. With interactive softwares you avoid exams, because you can repeat like a digital game until you get the right level. So even years later you can practice some lessons. To use videos is better than to have a teacher repeating all the days the same issues; because he can improve the videos so students get the best classroom. Those technologies expand education to millions of humans and low the costs. Do not forget that universities are just a copy of the old religious systems where only the Kings family, the military and priests got education to control people. Today those problems still around even if you call your country democratic; this is why education do not really reach the most and still been a problem when you need to obtain the knowledge fast. Too complicated structures with the universities or bureaucratic states and old economic interests; usually they just want to encapsulate your self in a system to control your money taxes in a certain level and your nationality; instead of really make people more productive and creative. Today because of  the new technologies it is possible to improve many social issues, build better systems for education or integrate different nations. Imagine if you could have 30 or more specialist on different issues in real time; every moment of your life. I mean to get the best information about everything you will like to know in the right moment...

E-mail:  Hi, there congratulations for the fast scanning text; if you can combine it with the voice recognition or text reading software it will be great. Imagine a system which you can scan a book or text very fast like yours... and instead of reading; the system will read it for your self so that way you will need just to hear after getting some new information...  And then also to be able to activate on the computer or cellphone (by talking) the editing software for websites. To be able to publish interactive books with links and add files in different parts of the book; images or videos. Just by talking; so you will not even need to use the mouse or hands on the computer or cell phone to scan or to hear the information.

So resuming: this way you will not need to read books but the software will read the text for your self, and you will not need to use manual buttons, an to be able to use it online like a website software where you can add on the text (links) with more contents (images and video files). Very useful also for robots... and teaching...


3) Avoid decorate the robot with things that are not really useful or just to make him look modern or funny. It is not about that. If the robot have real advantages then people will buy it, this is the most important thing to consider at least you want to build just toys or robots for kids. For example: The robot Albert HUBO  *  (Photos)  Korea; they did a lot of good job by improving the technology but if you put lights on the body that way; like it is a little submarine engine or a supposed modern space suit; it results unpractical because if you want even better light you can use a powerful non permanent fixed hand lamp which will be more effective to light up a scenario while giving more flexibility to the robot. The Hubo face was very good maid but it is an old face so it looks ridiculous combined with the modern aspects of a robot. It is not the face of Einstein that will make your robot more intelligent, you do not need to do that. The chest is like a cube; if you give a more curved or normal chest it will make the robot less rigid; the feet can be improved too by making them like a sort of shoes not only two squares... and so on. As you can see because of concentrating on things to just decorate the robot or make him look funny; you can forget some other practical issues; losing time instead of making a better robot.

 

4) If your robot cant sit down, if your robot cant fall down and then stand up by it self, or many other simple issues like that... it means that you are making mistakes on the design; try to resolve those mistakes before it makes the robot unpractical. You can watch on my list all the creative solutions made by other engineers and its robots. But also consider that sometimes you learn more from your mistakes and the ones from other robot builders; so by watching other robots you will avoid repeat the same mistakes. It can happens also that your robot project have fail; but keep the main, practical or useful ideas; because those ones can help the next improved robot or someone else project.

5) Avoid thinking that every part of the robot should be fixed or permanent; it is not a car or an airplane. You can make parts interchangeable; or useful for certain activities or moments. You can allow the robot to change sizes on its arms, legs and body. The same for muscles or motors (actuators) they can be inside or outside the robot, do not just build robots like a sort of insect or crab structure or just a copy of the human body.  For example: You can use a little electric Segway to make him faster... do not fix the segway on it; that way it saves energy, and you allow the robot to have more flexibility. You also can use artificial muscles and/or insert other parts to give more power and/or stability. Again do not just copy humans, animals or insects, you can combine all the models to make them work better. 

 

6) Avoid using actuators as a standard concept. I mean one actuator can be good for a part of the robot but not for the others (on the legs and arms; for example). It is possible to combine different sort of actuators for building up the body or parts; if it is effective just do it. Actuators for humanoid robots are the beginning of a new industry; those have a lot of mistakes and limitations on its design and can be a problem for the performance of the robot. Try to resolve the issue.

For example, the images bellow: This is totally unpractical for walking robots, because of the whole issue "besides the hand". Or to allow more flexibility to the body. And the other problem is that artificial muscles are a limitation in terms of degrees of freedom. Robots like that are useful to do some research or for that specific robot industry (to promote their products) or Hollywood movies but not for walking humanoids. You need to improve the cylindric and linear actuator technologies, even make them smaller for some of the joints and then in time, maybe use better artificial muscles for some parts of the robot, but not just to copy a human body structure with its limitations.

7) If you are a robot builder do not lose time making research on what other specialists are already investigating or did achieve you will lose money. Try to improve the robot and buy technologies that are already on the market or just make deals with the owners, you will be surprised about all the practical solutions that you ca find on the Internet. Try to do some research on the Internet about the new technologies and robots each year or month. You can watch also the  list of "Most Famous Robots" and all the information on my Website.


8) Be smart and watch every single humanoid robot or technology that you can, do not be arrogant thinking that you or your team are the best robot builders. Every single little project and robot can give you a new idea. Try to keep updated your list of robots and information. Do not make the mistake of thinking that only universities or engineers have the solution for your technical problems, open your mind because good ideas are free most of the time and can come from every person or situation. 9) When you watch some new technology or interesting idea on the Internet, try to copy the link so when you need it you can find it faster. Because it is not possible for humans to remember all the issues all the time. That way you can help your creativity.

 

10) In the section  Companies, Organizations & Research  you can find scientific information but try to use all other Internet resources or knowledge and life experience. Do not forget that humanoid robot technology is relatively new, so most of the branches of study do not even exist in the Universities. The problem is that Universities are also dragging old political and socioeconomic models which are not matching with updated humanoid robots, intelligent systems and other new technologies. So try to make your little own revolution in a constructive way; to improve human life quality and services with new ideas. 11) Intelligent systems are one of the most important issues to develop and the reason why humanoid robots can become so important. For example: if you have a robot enough intelligent to analyze rocks by watching them or using sensors; you will avoid not only many human tasks or technicians on the field which is expensive, but you will be able to ask their opinion about the situation or even to teach them (or inform) new things; from different places in the World. This way, a simple robot by walking can help you to find minerals or possible mines very easily. The same can be applied for agriculture issues or health and others. The robot thanks to the intelligent systems will be able to give you easily solutions for your needs; very fast, avoiding you to be an expert in every item. So if someone has a robot company, he is going to be able to send you the robots even for free or some sort of credit; if you take care of them properly. That will teach you things and you will become more productive, then you will share that productivity or pay back. Independently of the mistakes of the politicians or the structure of the state; with humanoid robots you will get fast and better solutions for your needs. To get technologies to that point it can take some time and investment, but now imagine if every cell phone can be connected with a very fast system to transmit data to a super computer and be able to analyze videos, things, situations or information from sensors; so each customer becomes a source of information in almost real time for the supercomputers which can be used by millions of people to resolve their needs very fast:

12) If you do not have much money try to be creative and improve something for the humanoid robot technology that nobody got it before; then try to promote it. To build humanoid robots bodies is not the only way to help the technology, you can use your knowledge and imagination to develop ideas or other technologies useful for them. For example, cell phones with GPS and photo or video camera, are going to help the technology to be sold faster to the public which can help its improvement; then in time you can use those technologies for the Humanoid Robots. So maybe the best way to build humanoid robots is indirectly, because if you can put those technologies on cheaper and useful products, you will probably make more money and then they will be ready (in time) with the last tech to build your future and better robots. For example; if you can miniaturize the Google s 360º photo camera and then put it on the Video cameras or cell phones with GPS; you are not only doing a good business with those devises but later you can integrate it to the humanoid robot body, intelligent system or use it wireless.  Google s 360º Camera. You can also improve the software: 360º Panoramas  or other digital video or photo camera systems. Challenge your imagination; have fun...  In the commercial aspect; I mean to finance your robot project you can also profit a technology for cell phones or other electronic devices and products and use it as a tool to promote the robot; "like it is useful and included on it..." Do not make the old mistake like IBM many years ago did; thinking that all the computer parts will be maid in the factory or by the local Universities. Today every body knows on the computer business that different softwares and parts are maid by different companies and all those technologies together around the World; are helping you to have better products. 

This is an e-mail answer I have sent to a person who is trying to make a company related to robotics, it has some interesting points to consider:

No problem "Paul"; start the website and the services then I will give you some ideas to promote the issue, interactive robots are a good idea but the basic problem is the limitation of the Internet speed (or real time control) but it is one of the ultimate goals in robotics because it will really change the world if they improve that issue (Better satellites).  Educational aspects are a good idea if you can find the people or institutions to finance you; be careful then with which kind of robot war you want to offer if you want to target universities or schools. But can be interesting as a Internet curiosity if the game is well done, can get some online people playing. Then you can use a robot like:

  • ROVIO   *   (Photos)   (WowWee Robotics) to make some interactions for ordinary human activities at home, for practical issues. For example: due to the economic crisis many neighborhoods have become target of vandalism or people stealing. So you can make as a game an online mobile Webcam to monitor homes when people need to leave the house. Or in certain areas of the city with more risk... so even if you live in other part of the world someone who is online can monitor and prevent the users. You can even talk with the local  authority to finance your project in terms of security for the city. While doing a good business selling those mobile robots for homes or to take care of the kids while they are playing or for the elderly (there are some old people who need attention. Even it will be a good project for supporting people in hospitals or care homes for example. It will be nice if they will be able to receive an online visit with the little robot; even if it is someone in other city or other part of the world who cares about its health condition or as a normal interaction between people. So you can allow a well organized network of them as a support one to each other (elderly); helped by the mobile robot and give an additional service to allow or facilitate the use of technology by people who do not really understand the Internet issue or services related to communication. You can even have online nurses or to be able to make online visits by the family in hospitals, can be also a great project because they can use it as an additional service.  Activities like that can attract also some research in the universities....

    13) How to transform a physical human worker society into an effective automatized or robotic society? 

    What we will need to do is to build a very effective and creative system to increase the way people make money. So the money you make is not only due to your physical effort but because of your ability to invent things with the help of softwares, robots or humanoid robots and intelligent systems; faster. One of the problems we are dealing today is that 80 % of the patents are made by a few countries with more economic power; but even if you live in one of those, it does not mean that your life is better today or easier; there are a lot of failures on human health issues or because of spending too much of the money taxes on the military; it lows the speed of progress, or because of spending too much money on dirty and non renewable energy, or because we need to pay in many aspects the price of dealing with security issues due to the low level life quality from many others around the Word; for example. So, systems to impoverish others or exploit them in any level have never been successful in time, they needed a whole perverse immoral propaganda to keep it work, or a whole irrational story out of the reality. The results you can see it easily with the economic crisis and a circle of heavy human problematics; like poverty, bad human health conditions, destroyed ecosystems, low level education, etc. So what it looks like a privilege for a minority, it really isn`t. We are all paying in a certain level the price of less productivity from others and your own self. Even if you stay blind and do not want to see what is going on around the Planet those things are happening; and you will understand it when its too late or the big problems affects you... this is like a permanent cycle in all the cultures; they build up empires or welfare but in a critical point of certain number of population they simple fail; because of the non efficient system in terms of technology to allow health, knowledge and material growth for everyone or simple because they were competing for resources with someone else building their own enemies; instead of unite efforts. But the permanent changing ecosystem or Mother Nature will make them remember...

    Now, If we get better powerful tools to store data and to process information; we can put massively intelligent - interactive - teleoperated humanoid robots on the market at a cheap cost. So the solution for replacing physical working societies is to reward creativity very fast. Thats why we will need to make automatic intelligent softwares to help people design things faster and easily (with intelligent video analysis; Intelligent simulation systems, gesture and hand recognition systems or voice-writing softwares; for example). So even if you have a low level computer understanding you will be able to make profit from your imagination or new ideas. We will need also to change the structure of patents. Why not make patents free and integrated online with powerful intelligent systems? Which can help you design and register very fast the new products or services; from any place in the World. Then you will have a period to produce the product or service in your country, but if you cant produce it or sell it in other places. People will be able to take the idea and sell or produce it, and you will receive a percentage. What is this stupidity about the state controlling and making money with your ideas, it should promote creativity not suck like a vampire the potential products or services??? Applications for patents should be accepted just with a video online or by sending an e-mail; for example. If it produces something and someone claims the issue it is just about to see the date, and who was the first.  Then the service can cash some money when the ideas start to produce something. That way you increase the number of products and ideas for the public knowledge so you can allow people to produce more things around the World by facilitating the process. I mean it is important to have a more efficient way to reward them for their creativity. So you allow the chance at least to register for free, which will make possible to every person in the world to take the idea and produce it; if you do not have the tools or money. That will benefit your productivity and allow you to invent new things and also to make much more money because the markets can be integrated around the world and will be huge. The real piracy is maid by many companies or people with money, which is a disaster in terms or development worldwide. Imagine 6500 million people inventing and patenting things all the months and years or even children will be able to do it; today thanks to the super computers it is possible. For example: Each country taxes products and services and cash the money normally; then it can send around the world the percentage from every people who did subscribe its new idea (patent) and because of that extra service they can get also some of the money.

    Day by day and by improving intelligent systems and operating intelligent robots; that will facilitate prosperity. Thanks to the new softwares and hardwares it will be possible. So you can organize better societies and you can make huge markets beyond the traditional human consumption. You can even start to build entire ecosystems & life in other Planets or to be able to transform desert lands into productive systems with better and cheaper technologies to desalinate sea water or to make sea farms possible or by producing better clean renewable energy systems. Resuming: "for the powerful in the states": more taxes, better markets, better services and products and improved health and life stile for the people. For the military: less wars, better jobs and more efficient reprogrammed tasks as a human being.  Traduced on the daily practical issues; for example: instead of working 30 years to pay a house you will need one or two years; instead of waiting for retirement many years and who knows if they will pay you well; you will be able to use intelligent systems and humanoid robots to do the hard jobs.  Better technology = better health solutions = increasing your life time 200% or more; instead of using humans just to pay or buy houses and cars before they die, or instead of spending the money taxes on a poisoning and out of control war industry which is retarding development hundreds of years; between other advantages.

    ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

     

     

    If you have the goal of building better hardwares and softwares for humanoids robots or intelligent systems and you are studying the human brain (with the new tools like computers integrated with different sort of scanners) it can be useful. But it is not the only way to make better computers or even more intelligent than humans. One of the reasons is because you can build computers in an atomic level, much more powerful in terms of processing data. A simple stone, piece of carbon or "good material" which you can hold in your hand, in terms of mass, has more potential to process data than hundreds of human brains together, if you can arrange the atoms properly (RF Plasma Torch Synthesis) . Imagine a box full of tinny balls for storing data and inside each ball any three dimensional model to store data. Then imagine if you put beside an other box full of "empty" balls ready to store more data. So each time you add more and more boxes with balls (material) you can have more potential for storing data. How do you store the data with no cable line? Laser transfer data, or radio waves or any other sort of energy who travels between atoms and allows you to transfer data CMU Plasmonics  CMU Photonics  . So more important than the model, can be how do you transfer data wireless between the balls or cubes if you like; because models for storing data, you can build it in an atomic level, and that will be more effective than neurons. . . Resuming: maybe you need to build computers with different levels, tiny three dimensional balls to store data, and with and engine to read or store the information on it (wireless) and to "recapture by codes and to be use it in a certain period". So it will be able to process what is useful for the situation, and then "let go or erase" the information. This way you can have computers build on every object or even on the walls of the house, car or airplane... so while you move in the Real World your intelligent system can take and use new information. With no needs of storing all the data on its "Mobil Brain"

    It is also important to consider that you do not need to watch or have an image of the brain or to watch the process on a screen to understand the logic system that it uses. You can simple observe how humans learn. And there are many studies about that before the new tools (brain scanners like the TAC) came on the market, Universities or companies. So you can start now, to build those better softwares and hardwares for the humanoid robots; like some people are already doing. By the way this is how the computer technology has started.

    Humanoid robots can be very useful for different activities (tasks)  because of the level of freedom that they can reach for different activities, not because they look like "special humans". Humans have a lot of limitations in terms of sensors and hardware. Because they needed to make an evolution and "organize each part" depending on the previous body or entity, the ambient and the sort of energetic source (food) available in "that moment" on the Planet. Plus the limitations for storing data in the brain, other way they will end up with an enormous head non practical for surviving. This is why humans need to sleep because in that moment the brain reorganize information and pull out "what is not essential" = low stimulation or motivation in the situation or life experience.

    Humanoid Robots can even use other computers outside their bodies, it only depends on how fast or powerful; in terms of volume of data per period of time the systems can process or transfer. So you can start to build directly much better Humanoids robots, I mean you do not need just to copy humans to make better hardwares or softwares. Just take what you need and improve it... "Body and Mind". 

    A mistake can be to think that humanoid robots can simple avoid humans. Humans have limitations in terms of processing data but have biological inherent skills like to reproduce by it self motivated by its own properties, this condition or ability, make them to work in groups, which increase their intelligence or probability to survive or transcend their ecosystem. Once you make a robot enough intelligent to decide by it self, you can not be sure if they will do that; because of the source of energy they use, their "inherent or structured motivations" can be different. Maybe you will only need "preprogrammed bigger atoms or entities like Galaxies, Planets or Stars" to accomplish your new goals, but that is other story for the moment... In the mean time it will be useful to have humanoid robots integrated with humans. For example Teleoperated Robots, gesture recognition systems, or brain computer interface systems; will be very practical to transmit knowledge to the robots, or for the robots to us... in some level of robotic technology; robot bodies can be combined with animals or humans cells also.

    We can say that we have two principal models to build robots: The autonomous model and the interactive model; both in time for practical reasons need to interact with humans, with other machines or the ambient.  So Autonomous, teleoperated and interactive are conditions that can improve humanoid robots and they do not exclude each other.

     

    For the "Humanoid Autonomous model" you can start this way: 

     

    1) Take some sensors connect it to a computer and buy or build a software to be able to recognize textures like soft, porous, hard, fluid, like chemical levels, like acidity, salty, etc. Use also the software to record the information about color or radio waves, you already have on the market softwares and sensors to recognize colors or radio wave frequencies or even laser scanners and other good technologies. Express it on a screen in general terms of human understanding also = language and numbers. Very soft, hard, acid. Green, black, orange... or also in terms of what is harmful for the robot (or us), dangerous or useful (you can use numbers to categorize or measure). Use a digital map with GPS, and build a software to be able to record photos, movies in an automatic way for positioning the event (where did that happen?). Each event on the map will need to be organized with the digital calendar and the map with the position expressed in grades (numbers), and the name of the location, country, city, town, building, etc. When you/it access the day, the photos or/and videos will be organized by hours and exactly time in the day. Use voice recognition software to allow the robot ask you questions about the location, for example and to understand you when you give some commands.

     

    2) Take some lasers and/or video cameras or the right sensors and connect it to a computer. You need to build or buy a software (with algorithms, maths, etc.)  to be able to recognize and/or to know the difference between solid, liquid, gas, energy, sound or something with autonomous movement like life or machines (certain level of sensor useful for your tasks, smart as human or better than that; in terms of perception; today you have a lot on the market).  Then it needs to express it on a screen with words: Solid, liquid, gas... organized in a data base, with the time when those things or events are existing or happening (on a digital digital calendar). Also  to be able to recognize concepts =  characters, numbers, symbols, letters, words. If it watch or hear a sound or word, then it will need to categorize and organize in an automatic way. Number (1,2,3,...) + the photos or videos. Letters and Words + plus the photos and videos (a,b,c... bread). You can watch Aiko on my list of humanoid robots, it can give you some ideas. I think today you have even sensors and softwares that can recognize Braille Alphabet, you can do it, if you will like to add a new skill; for example. Do not forget the positioning with the GPS and Map, with the digital calendar to "arrange" the information (photos, videos, data, etc.).

     

    3) Then make a software to be able to measure those bodies, in cm or feet, and the area. It can be video (sequence of photos), or directly with a sonar, laser or any other practical method. Then express it on a screen with the language and numbers, example: 50 cm X  10cm  X  2,3cm. ApProx. Then make a scale in terms of the size of your robot. For example the size of your robot will be Normal Size. Then a stone bigger than the robot will be a " very big" stone = rock. If the stone can be hold in the hand: Not so big. If the stone is the size of the nail it will be little, if the stone is half the size of the robot it will be big, and so on, for example. Make general scales to name the size of the stones (bodies or objects) something practical related to the task you want to achieve. You can do the same for sounds (laud or not too laud) and levels of energy, like something cold or hot.


    4) Then make a software to be able to measure and detect movements or activities (verbs). Like to jump (for alive bodies or machines). You need to express it in mathematical terms and software language: something that separates it self going through the Air or Space (with a certain speed) from the horizon or other object; and this is due to a mechanical movement made by a machine, autonomous body or alive entity; for example, to define "to jump". Jumping will be if it repeats the movement. All this will need to be connected with the sensors or image recognition system. Then express it on scales and language like in the step 2). You can do it with other verbs too, like moving, like floating, burning, and so on. And also add time, I mean store it with the situation in a digital calendar. And make general measures, like fast, not so fast, slowly, etc. In terms of the speed of your robot or human understanding. Then express it on a screen, for normal human understanding.  As you can see, all those softwares will need to be integrated in a way that they can share information, and be able to show (express) all the information on the same screen at the same time. Little Children´s brain normally associate images and words to understand that someone is jumping, because is not possible for them to elaborate complex conceptualizations at the "beginning"... so it will be something like: someone doing the same thing (on its visual memory, tactile...) with the legs or body; called jumping. To start you can try that way... if you can get better results, or to make not so complicated algorithms. System Helps Robots (and Cell Phones) Recognize Objects . This software can help your robot for artificial intelligence if you combine it with a program to be able to do recognition plus generalize into similar objects; I mean to be able recognize an object even if  it is the first time he saw it... thanks to the information on the Internet. Or by watching images on a digital video. This capability is very important because by generalizing humans can build concepts or stories practical to operate in daily life. But also because it will allow the robot or intelligent system to recognize objects in any part of a digital video to be able to insert data files in a 3D digital video or virtual world; which has enormous applications (Watch also point 20; Tips for the robot HRP-4C

     

    As you can see you will need to program or buy different softwares and also integrate different hardwares in the computer (Brain).


    5) Now you can start with a software to manage the language. For example this thing with characteristic 1, 2 and 3  is called water, glass, door, dog, mother, stick, stone, rock, etc. and what are they doing? jumping, floating, talking, etc. Then you can program the software to write on the screen according to the calendar, if the verb related to the action is in past time, present, future, etc. 


    6) Then you can try to make the robot repeat sentences, actions, events, to build things or to accomplish tasks. and you can put a note: good, bad,  yes, no, very good, etc. or/and in a scale of 10 or 20 until it reach`s the task properly. You have today softwares for learning tasks, or voice recognition softwares; on the market (Watch Robots like Aiko, Cog or Leonardo).


    7) You need to have a software which takes the different situations (videos, photos and sensor information = experiences, language...) and can reprocess or conceptualize again old situations in terms of language and other sensor data and "the new ones". I mean to be able to organize or reorganize the sequence: object, characteristic or model, verb, time, etc. "the man is jumping beside the wall" then to be able to reprocess the information, when needed or oriented in an automatic way for your needs, in terms of what you will like the robot to be able to learn: "the man was jumping beside the wall, trying to protect from the cold wind and to warm its body".  So each time the robot get new levels of understanding or information from the sensors it will be able to reprogram (in terms of language) the "previous or old information". Or even reprocess the information that is already on its sensor data or video data (memory). Because you can program the robot to process what is most important or close to him for a specific situation, and then  make him and your self to be able (in time) to analyze other issues when he gets more information about a theme. It is also important to consider that some events or information described on a book, video, story or by people already did happen in the past but the robot is learning about them in a new and specific date and set this information on its calendar. So this information is going to be set on its general calendar, but will also be organized inside (its general calendar) into an other calendar; related to a second level of information. That way he will be able to remember when did he learn something but also that the event or situation described did happen in the past (with a specific date).


    8) Humans usually have irrational ways of processing data, it means that our brain always try to build stories about what is going on, and if we do not understand or if we do not have enough knowledge about what happens in the reality; we simple invent a story. This is simple because we are always learning  from the reality and we can never be enough smart or intelligent, to conceptualize what is going on. So, "we are never so smart as we think" to understand or conceptualize the Universe (just in some level), which includes human events. "More you learn more you understand that you do not know a lot of things". Sometimes those stories are logic or close to the reality and sometimes they are far from what really happens. If you are going to program or use softwares to organize the robot language process, it can be useful that you learn something about Rational Behavioral and Emotive Theories.     9) Emotional Robots can be useful in terms of establish priorities, how and when to process data. And to help you depending on the tasks you need to achieve and if the situation is dangerous for them or your self. If you have powerful hardwares to store, process and transfer data you almost have no limits on what  you can do. You can use wireless electricity or have different autonomous ways to allow the robot change or recharge the batteries while he still processing information or doing some activities. To make "funny" emotional robots with stupidities or irrational ways of thinking or killers is up to you,  but do not call me for that...  :-) 

     

    10) Preprogrammed actions or preprogrammed reflex; should be integrated with the memory, video-photo analysis, other sensors and the system to be able to reprogram (improve) tasks or reflexes. But it will be useful to incorporate little chips inside or close to the actuators to make them more intelligent. For example: A hand or parts of the legs will be more effective if in some level are enough intelligent by it self (autonomous). And if the information between the parts and the main computer, can be transmitted wireless, it will be better... This way you can allow the robot to change sises and improve its capabilities to achieve different tasks.


    For the Teleoperated and/or Interactive model you can start this way:


    You can use all kind of screens on its body or communication systems. So the robot can be a bridge or a tool to enhance human capabilities and its own. Also: Control Remote, Gesture Recognition Systems, Voice Recognition System, Brain Computer Interface, Wireless systems: Communication, Sensors, and energy (wireless electricity, wireless video transmitting data, Wireless servos and actuators, for example). Laser Transfer Data or Laser video Image Projector, Internet and other efficient Communication systems... can be very useful also.     I think, the ideal will be to combine both models in a Humanoid Robot. Or even the third model with human cells; but for that you need to improve the previous steps. I think the Humanoid Robotic level in our Planet is not ready for the moment. Humans are just starting to do some experiments with... Robot with a Rat Brain  Robot with Biological Brain. There are other interesting models related to robotic, which includes tiny robots or complete robotic parts inside or attached to your self to repair your body or give you special skills,  or even stem cell technologies can be  useful...

You can see that 80% of the patents are made by developed countries and in those supposed developed countries: patents have a  bureaucratic system which is not really promoting creativity for the majority of their own population; which means there is not a really good system to reward them faster for their ideas. They are more rewarded for their physical jobs which is not very efficient and you can see the results on the health statistics or economic crisis. With the actual social structures they are not going to be able to survive; because it conduces to a sure way for destroying the special conditions in the Planet. They are also usually enslaved with different techniques, bad level education or systems, politic aspects in the name of freedom, security or what ever to pay this "communist" bullshit which is retarding hundreds of years the possibility to get better technologies:

    - To improve education by improving telecommunication systems, intelligent systems and super computers for the public use. And also the way people offer products and services. I know better steps to follow.

    - To improve humanoid robots (teleoperated, interactive, and autonomous) avoiding repetitive tasks for humans. That will help us to be more creative. I know which are the steps to accelerate the technology.

    - To build cheaper and technologically better houses, so we can change the model Mistake - Fixing; it is not right to call that the free market as a supposed magic model; which is doing very bad in terms of time, money and energy spent building houses or things "by hand". We should use the scientific model to accelerate technology and to produce better houses or the productive chain involved. If the average people will invest just one or two years to get their own homes instead of 20 or 30 years.     If you are successful, what difference will it make? 

     It will save trillions of dollars per year on national security in almost all the levels, reorient the industry for much more productive things, it will integrate the entire world for common tasks and resolve poverty. It will also help to make much more efficient and democratic systems. If you have a system 1000% more efficient you will jump into the future 500 years just in 50 years, or to make possible life, mining or industries in other planets; for example. 

     

    What are the risks and payoffs?

    The risks are minimal because you are going to use the scientific model before using the model mistake - fixing which is normally used on the “free market”. Freedom has to do with information, knowledge and opportunities so you can develop your creativity to improve life quality. If you use the scientific model just to build products and services but at the end of the chain (I mean the community) you have no scientific model or a systematic way to control efficiency it will not work well.  It  is not about to  control or cut freedom but to improve the system by facilitating  services (or strategic things) and  giving  better opportunities.

         

     How much will it cost? How long will it take? 

    The cost and time depends on how you focus the project. More than cost it will save a lot of money to the private and public sector; and if you are enough smart you can put the plan into the presidential level; so you can compromise other countries to engage with the projects as an organized solution to really resolve poverty. Plus the USA and other countries are already investing on Nanotechnology and we have the robotic technology and satellite systems. Many projects are on the way but we need to organize better how to do it with a common vision and promote it better. You also have very good private companies and people to make such softwares and hardwares; it is about to make some improvements and priorities. 

    To build experimental and more efficient house models can cost some millions but nothing that will not pay back because you can sell it on the market in the worse of the case. You are going to use professionals on the issues to corroborate those new models; one of the principal things are imagination and how to be more efficient to make work the process. 

    The  good thing is that  you are  going to implement a system (intelligent systems and humanoid robots) into the community  to  give integral solutions to social problems like health,  education, productivity,  security, etc.


     What are the midterm and final "exams" to check for success? 

    You need to build experimental models in the community before apply the technology on a big scale. This is not too hard because some of the technologies already exist and works on the markets. It is about to improve cell phones, computers, softwares and Internet services. Super computers already exist; so you can make some experimental programs to calculate how much power (software and hardware) for intelligent systems you really need to educate and give strategic information for each person with its special needs.  And how to  make easier to get strategic information or to offer products and services faster.

    Humanoid robots and companies already exist; it is about to help them to get better products faster; with good strategies. American engineers have fail making walking robots but others have achieve good levels. It is about to know which of the technologies to buy and how to put it together to improve it (I know how). One of the firsts levels to make work an economic system is communication, information and intelligent systems. I mean with intelligent systems or softwares you can educate people, improve creativity, organize, and you will be able to improve trading products and services in a much more efficient way. Second level is food; if you have a robotic community to be able to produce food and energy by it self then you have resolved a big part of the social problem. Third level is transportation; if you can automatize that issue it will save a lot of time to the community. Fourth level is to have better efficient homes. If you automatize the industry with cheaper and better houses you can use the humanoid robots to build and maintain them. Then you will have more time to increase creativity and be able to produce better services and products while avoiding huge problematics on  health and security  issues; for example.  It is possible to make  humans 1000% more productive and intelligent.

              


    PHILOSOPHIC ASPECTS

     

     If you watch the  shape of our Galaxy, It looks like a whirlpool; what does that mean? = movement of matter and energy. Why is that important to consider? Because 240 millions years ago an asteroid did hit the Hearth and killed more than 80% of the species. Then it took 100 millions years to "recover" and dinosaurs lived on the planet for 140 millions years; until an other asteroid did impact the planet like 60 millions years ago, making many species disappear and some others did transform because of the weather and conditions. 2,5 millions years ago, the Poles started to froze; increasing vast areas of ice; but aprox. 12 thousand years ago an other asteroid (but not so big as the others) did also impact that cold icy place from the Northern Hemisphere, and moved the Hearth axis like 12 degrees; exploding with a huge force, killing mammoths and other species and changing the weather. But also human destruction of the ecosystems or killings did make disappear many different animals. Today we also know that the interior of Planet Hearth is composed of a hot mass with movement; its like a big magnet changing the poles every 700 thousands years aprox. which causes "holes" in the atmosphere allowing more radiation from the Sun to impact the surface. As you can see; for one reason or and other, organization and intelligent systems are main issues to consider not only to protect natural resources and life in our planet but also around the Universe; which at the end will allow us to survive. And why is important to survive? Because we are a key tool to mold matter and energy, Planets, Galaxies and the Universe; beyond "the classical rules" of  components (matter and energy in a "simple level"). We can increase the capacity of creation = creativity to exist. Scientific has calculated that there are like 100 billions planets in our galaxy with similar conditions than Planet Earth; which means that the big universal natural game is to keep moving, transforming and learning; so you can survive beyond the matter and energy cycles or events; and you have the potential as intelligent being to modify or shape them, and who knows? Maybe also the properties of the Universe = "God hands".  Why robots and intelligent systems are so important in this Universal context? Because you can build them faster than reproducing humans and because they use a simple form of energy = electricity. Plus they can overcome the limitations of the human body increasing the probabilities for surviving in the nature. Robots can be an important tool for molding matter and Nature faster. Humans exist since 3,5 or 4 millions years with more or less the same structure. And have spent all that time building things and making tools with its own hands, bodies and intelligence. But what is the big issue? We spend too much time doing that; molding and building things with our hands until some natural event destroys the whole issue. So what will be the ideal? Robots: They can do the hard jobs, while we keep learning and inventing things. So, if you increase your potential to operate humanoid bodies or intelligent systems you can save time and you get more power to transform matter and energy (tools, vehicles, houses, life, etc.) . But not only that; new intelligent systems allows you to register and analyze every aspect of life, every second and during years of entire cycles. Imagine the huge amount of knowledge that you can obtain if we could see on a video the entire human life history; imagine each individual life experience registered and analyzed by complex systems. Well, this is happening today: we are in the process of collecting huge amounts of information and integrating that with intelligent systems. Just watch what is going on with the Internet: More information, more photos, more videos, more life experiences, etc. This is nothing to be afraid, because it will improve your life; if we want to use it for that. Humans are almost like birds or many other animals or insects in terms of that vast Universe; because they have spent their lives building houses and tools to reproduce them selves. Today thanks to the new technologies that process can become much more efficient; we can build super tools to mold the Universe: Humanoid Robots and Intelligent systems. Imagine if in every moment of your life you can have access to the equivalent of 30 or more  scientific annalist (intelligent systems with sensors) to explain you fast what ever you will need. For example: if you are in the nature; the robot or intelligent system can tell you the name of the plants, animals or rocks and for what are they useful; and even what can you do if you will like to make some good profits with. Instead of losing time sitting in a classroom with its limitations; you will be 1000% and even more intelligent in many issues. Resuming: today we have the potential to create the most powerful tool ever made by humans: Intelligent systems and humanoid robots; to transform human life quality. It will make possible to replace human tasks or entire process of human production. But to make a reality the technology and achieve that level its not depending on waiting but we need to invest on it and put our creativity to work.
