Research

My primary research interests are in scientific data and workflow engineering (foundations and applications); knowledge representation and reasoning; database and workflow applications in the life sciences; foundations of databases. Current research topics include:
• Modeling, design, and analysis of scientific workflows
• Foundations and optimization of data and workflow provenance
• Optimization of data-intensive and compute-intensive workflows
• Reasoning with taxonomies, knowledge-based data integration, query rewriting
