Bewitched Art Gallery

The artwork featured on the TV show Bewitched simmified

Okay, so I'm a little obsessed with the TV show Bewitched (the York years) and I decided it would be fun to create the Bewitched house at 1164 Morning Glory Circle for my Sims 2 game.

So I started looking for custom content related to Bewitched. I found several of the houses but they all seemed to be off somehow build-wise.

I did find Samantha and Darrin, made by the lovely and talented Vera Marina at ModTheSims2 and knew I wouldn't be able to do better than that.

Back to the house, I kind of got carried away with it and it is so packed with custom content (some free, some pay) that I would never be able to upload it. If you can't build it yourself but just have to have it in your game then wolfsim68's version at The Sims Resource is the closest. I'm not going to link to it because she recently became a Featured Artist there and now her stuff is pay. You can find it in the booty at paysites.mustbedestroyed.org. (and that's an argument for another day)

But in my quest to find pictures online of the house to have something to go by I found this website: 1164.com. It has the most information about the show and the neighborhood the house is in concentrated in one extremely organized, wonderful place. Screenshots upon screenshots of the interior, exterior, set, and surrounding houses, so much info in fact that I decided to do the whole neighborhood! It's an awesome site and you should definitely check it out.

But I digress. Back to the artwork. I found (through Adam's screenshots and links pages) listings of most if not all of the art used on the show, most of it by famous artists and, with list tightly clenched in my fist, I went on a search of all the Sims 2 websites that had custom content available for download and found...none of it. Zip. Nada. I found one Picasso but I couldn't use it as it was because the set decorators on the show hung it on the wall flipped on it's side.

I literally searched for weeks until my eyeballs bled and finally decided to just make them myself. All I know how to do in SimPE is use PhotoStudio to recolor Maxis paintings and that limited me frame-wise so the frames don't match the originals but that Picasso is flipped, by god.

For an awesome article about all the artwork used on the show you can go to this page: L'art d'Enchante @ Harpies Bizarre.

I made all the artwork from that page (I didn't gank the images off that site but did independant searches for free images. Google Image Search is my friend and lover), with the exception of the Mona Sammy because it had already been done by Witchboy1962 at Wicked Sims. (He also made a beautiful drawing of Endora and the Partridge Family bus!) I also didn't make the two paintings of Louise because a)I couldn't find them anywhere on the 'net besides that site, and they don't allow use of their images and b)I didn't really care for those paintings anyway and they were only seen in one episode late in the show's run.

I will be uploading the paintings I made as I get them packaged up both individually and in a single big .zip/.rar. My policy is no paysites (even if the download is offered for free), other than that do whatever you want with them. But seriously, no paysites. Baby bunnies will die, I'm almost certain. Have fun and enjoy them!

I will post screenshots of the house and maybe the rest of the neighborhood as I get them finished.
