Lucy Hu comes from a family of healthcare practitioners. In China, her great grandfather was a TCM doctor; Lucy and her two older sisters all received Western M.D. degrees in China.

Dr. Hu received her medical degree from China Medical University (Shenyang), People Republic of China, in 1961. In 1982, she received a degree of Diplomat in TCM from the Chinese Acupuncture and Medical Institute in Hong Kong. In her three decades of medical experience, she has specialized in pediatrics.

Dr. Hu worked as a pediatrician and instructor at the Dalian Children Hospital at the Dalian Medical College from 1961-1979. After arriving in Hong Kong, she continued her studies and graduated from the Chinese Acupuncture Medical Institute of Hong Kong with diplomas in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. After moving to California, Lucy became a Licensed Acupuncturist (California) in 1987 and obtained her National Certifications (NCCAOM) in both Acupuncture and Herbalism. Lucy was a featured speaker at the 1997 Five Branches nternational Symposium on Pediatric TCM and maintains a private practice for adults and children in Santa Clara, California. Her interests include classical music and cooking, especially the healthy Chinese herbal soups so favored by her students.

Dr. Hu is a professor at Five Branches University, teaching in the Departments of TCM Clinical Medicine and Clinical Training, and serves as the Department Chair of Pediatrics. Professor Hu teaches at both the Masters and Doctoral programs of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
