We will be having a Technology Picnic on May 11, 2010 from 6-7:30 in the gym and playground.  Food and drinks will be provided, but please bring your lawn chairs.  Please join us for a fun family evening.  We will be displaying the technology projects that our students have created this year.  We will also be enjoying a meal together. 

 

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2, 2010 with a Build-a-Book Party.  Everyone was able to get together, and L'Ouverture children were able to create their own books, thanks to Mrs. Willome.  We would like to thank her for providing every L'Ouverture child with a book kit.  Kits were available for purchase for additional family members.

 

Our Family Dance was a blast.  We danced, had snacks, and had a fun time as a family.  It was nice to see all the happy faces.  Thank you for joining us!

 

Movie night was so much fun.  We watched Brother Bear and Up.  We had hotdogs, popcorn, and yummy treats.  Thank you so much for joining us for this event!

 

Holiday shop was a long but exciting week for all L'Ouverture children.  Filled with shopping, there will be a lot of fun treats for families under the tree this year.  There was a raffle for a 6 foot tall stocking filled with games and toys.  Tickets were $1 each and the money will go to the Samba Band.

Bingo night is next.  On Tuesday, November 10th from 5:30 - 7:30 we will be at the North High Cafeteria for some more family fun.  There is pizza available first then playing 10 rounds of Bingo.  If you just want to come for Bingo, come at 6:15.  This year, Bingo night is a fundraiser for the Samba Band.  The Band is in NEED of new instruments, and this is a way to help raise some money for them.  The cost is $3 for 10 rounds of Bingo, and $8 for a large one-topping pizza from Papa Johns.  There will also be 50 cent drinks and desserts available for purchase that night.  If you want to order pizza, you must turn in the order form by Friday, November 6th!  Please come join in the fun!

Our Trunk or Treat is coming up next.  Thursday, October 29th we will be having our Second Annual Trunk or Treat from 6 - 7:30.  It will take place in the parking lot with some extra games and fun in the gym.  This will give the children another opportunity to dress up and trick or treat in a safe environment at the school.  We will be needing some donations of candy for this event.  If you can, please send some candy with your child and mark it - Trunk or Treat.  We had so much fun last year, and look forward to seeing you all there again this year!

 

Our next event is a fun night for the family and a way for the teachers to introduce all of us to the new Everyday Math Series.  Family game night will be September 24th from 6:00 - 7:15.  Teachers will be showing us how games that we can play with our children can also teach them new math skills and allow new family activities bring us all together.

 

Please join us in our events throughout the year.  Our first event to kick off the school year is the Grill N' Chill.  We will be grilling hotdogs and getting the chance to meet each other and the teachers at our school.  We hope to see you on the playground on August 13th at 6:30 - 8:00.  Come and also get a chance to win a new grill from Coleman.  Raffle tickets are 1 for $1, 6 for $5, and 15 for $10.  Proceeds will go to the LPTO fund to help support our classrooms/school where the budget falls short.

Next event coming up is Family Game Night.  It will involve getting the chance to play different games with your children in their classroom and further chances to get to know your student's teacher!  This will be September 24th from 6:00 - 7:15.  Hope to see you there!
