Elementary Theme - Motto

This year’s elementary theme will be “Learning is Magical” as it also will be our Read-A-Thon theme in February.  We all know that reading, writing, math, science, social students, and all the other curricular areas can be exciting and thrilling to learn about.  We want to provide our students with great opportunities to explore and learn as much as they possibly can each day.  We will also be emphasizing our LPC Motto, which is: “At La Porte City Elementary we respect ourselves, each other, our work, and our environment.  We act safely and responsibly.  Together we can do our best.”  This motto was designed a few year’s back by our elementary teachers, and the students recite it as part of their morning routine.  The ideas of demonstrating respectful behavior, acting safely and responsible, and doing our best are important concepts that our students need to learn to be able to be successful at school and in the real world to meet tomorrow’s challenges.  By combining our “Learning is Magical” theme and our school motto together we want our students to be kids of character and to experience the magic of learning at La Porte City Elementary.  It will be a great school year.

LaPorte City Elementary School Supply List – 2011-2012

Please Note…

q  Pencils – Decorative pencils do not necessarily sharpen well. We recommend plain yellow pencils.

q  Crayons – The Crayola brand is preferred in the lower grades.

q  Scissors – The Fiskars brand is preferred because of quality and durability. If last year’s Fiskars still fit your child’s hand, use them again.

q  Art Boxes – Please send the small, plastic flip top.
