As you can see, my Saints are house dogs and they are on their way to becoming therapy dogs with Therapy Dog International. They are of show quality, but instead we chose to use them to help others in time of need. They are great at giving out affection in large doses, as their nickname: Gentle Giants, accurately describes them.
This that follows describes how we train our dogs to become TDI certified.
This before TDI,Canine Good Citizen: The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program is a program by the American Kennel Club (AKC) which is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. A dog that has been through a basic obedience class or that has been trained at home should be able to pass the 10 item test
Therapy Dog International: The Therapy Dog International (TDI) is a volunteer group organized to provide qualified handlers and their Therapy Dogs for visitations to institutions, facilities, and any other place where Therapy Dogs are needed. The goal is to provide comfort and companionship by sharing the dog with patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities where the Therapy Dog is needed.
Think how good you would feel, to know that your dog made someone that need their day rewarding, happy. What I primary want to do, is go to library's and schols, as I did work with Special Ed in the school system, before I retird. Children can read to a dog easier and better than they can to a person. So the kids feel rewarded.
We are a small Hobby Breeding Kennel and I have four Saints: Angel, Max, Buck, and Hope. Only Angel and Buck are of breeding quality, the other two are neutered and spayed. I have had Buck and Angel's blood work done and their hips checked with PINHIPP x-rays. Both are well above average for Saint Bernards. My goal is to improve the breed.
Both are AKC papered. The pups will have long hair (rough coat) and large heads, and are of high quality. Each pup will be a wonderful companion to a family and will lie at your feet to keep you warm in the winter.
In the event that a buyer is no longer able to care for the pup they purchased, I will take the dog back regardless of age, health, or any physical condition, without a refund. Each pup is sold with a contract both parties sign, explaining in detail.
Angel's previous pups are on the East and West Coasts. Upon buying a pup, I do charge a fee for the airlines shipment (may fluctuate up or down due to airline fees) for shipping within the USA, in addition to the purchase price, that doesinclude the crate.
Please do not inquire about Angel's pups unless you have done your research on the Saint Bernard breed and are ready to make a lifelong commitment to the pup of your choice. I would be happy to provide you with references from past buyers.
I also breed my dogs to produce quality companions to their owners, by being loyal, good health, good bone, good size, and wonderful personalities, so their owners will always enjoy them.
Agility Class
I am no longer in breeding as my girl had 12 pups of both litters, but the first was only 6 living, 6 still born, the 2nd litter was 8 still born. The vet said that is common for large breed dogs, to hold them in the bith canal to fight against the labor pains. It was to hard on her and me, and she had the last litter on a Sat, and her vet's office was closed. So now she is spade and Buck is now neutered.
If you want a pup, contact me and I will give you the email address of whom I got Buck and Angel from.
Saint Bernards are the calmest, loveable companions to have to be with.
