Jamais deux sans trois.

Never two without three.

This expression usually refers to accidents or mishaps, which according to superstition, always seem to happen in groups of three.

Dos brillant, ventre criant.
(Literally:  Shiny back, screaming stomach.)

(This is a criticism of people who spend all their money on clothes and showy possessions, only to find themselves without enough left to take care of their basic needs.)
