Volaron diciembre y enero sin darme cuenta! Les deseo a todos muchas bendiciones para este ano 2010.
En diciembre y enero hemos estado repasando constantemente las silabas con la A y la E. Les mande una lista de palabras para cada vocal y tambien una lista de oraciones. Por favor practiquen diariamente para asegurar el exito de sus hijos en lectura.
Ademas, seguiremos mandando uno o dos libros con los ninos cada semana para leer a la familia y regresar al siguiente dia. Es normal que los ninos se aprendan el libro de memoria, lo importante en esta etapa es que aprendan a brincar con su dedo de palabra en palabra (un toque=una palabra) y a reconocer las palabras de uso mas frecuente en el idioma espanol.
No hemos anadido muchas palabras a nuestra lista de palabras comunes, porque estamos practicando escribir y leer oraciones con todo lo que ya sabemos. Algunos de los ninos todavia estan batallando para hacer espacios, minusculas, etc.
Para febrero vamos a seguir haciendo lo mismo: lectura, escritura, y dictado, pero cada ves mas elevado el nivel de las palabras y de las oraciones.
En matemáticas vamos a aprender y practicar sumas y restas.
En ciencias naturales hemos estado ocupadisimos. Los ninos han aprendido sobre el invierno, las fuerzas de fisica, los imanes, las propiedades del agua y sus diferentes estados, lo que flota y se hunde, etc. Proximamente los temas serán la formacion de las piedras la tierra y sus caracteristicas, el cuerpo humano (corazon, venas, arterias, pulmones, sangre y cerebro), los dientes y la boca.
Les recuerdo revisar el folder de los ninos diariamente, sacar los papeles, y regresarlo diariamente para poner los trabajos de los ninos.

December and January flew by and I was too busy to update my site, sorry.
I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a year filled with love and blessings.
As soon as Mrs. Wicker returns we will continue to teach language arts in both languages. We will add words to our sight word bank and continue making words with syllables, then work up to sentences. I will send you lists for practice as we go, and I will try to send them illustrated so you can understand them. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any doubts or questions.
Also, we will continue sending a small book home once or twice a week so the students can read it to their family and return it the following day. Please realize that it's normal for the students to memorize the book after just a few readings, but at this stage the students should be able to read and recognize their sight words and read their sentences with fluency and comprehension. If the student does not recognize the sight words in both lists, this means they need to study them harder at home. The books might seem to easy, but remember that the students at this stage are learning vocabulary in the second language and later they will be able to work on structure.
In math, we will study addition and subtraction, so you can practice these at home.
In science we have been very busy studying about winter, forces, magnets, and properties of water. Coming next are rocks, soil, the heart and teeth.
Please remember to check your student's folder daily to pull out all the papers and send it back the following day.
