Welcome to Lori's Website! Professional Interests With my unique interest in communication and biology, I hope to bridge the gap between active research and the public by conducting important research and ensuring that my findings are represented efficiently in both the scientific circle and throughout the general public. Specifically, I desire to effectively answer the question of how endocrine-disruptors (such as atrazine) influence reptiles in terms of their behavior, hormones, reproduction and morphology. I feel that reptile toxicology is an unfilled niche and it fits my own concerns precisely. The widely-applicable results of organisms that often have indirect exposure to endocrine disruptors offer an open door to connecting ecosystem management and conservation to the general public. Ultimately, I plan to incorporate my love of research with my passion for communication and outreach. After receiving my Master’s Degree, I will continue on to a Doctoral Degree. I am strongly considering a career as a professor. I believe that this profession would best suit my desire to communicate the research that I perform and itwill allow me to connect with colleagues and aid students in developing their own niche in biology. Biology has always been more than a word to me. It embodies a way of life. I am always seeking the answers, developing questions, and determining how to reach a wide audience. When scientific process is performed correctly, it impacts both the scientific community and the general public. I am committed to bridging the gap that currently exists by guiding others on both sides of the chasm. I hope that my contribution to biology will not only be exemplified by the number of publications, but also by the number of individuals who hear, understand, and apply my message. I feel that my professional experience can be summarized in four main, equally important categories: Research Mentoring/Teaching Outreach Curriculum vitae Please refer to my CV for further information (pdf format).
