Researcher Writer Publisher

R. Robert Mutrie, Norfolk County researcher, writer and publisher of more than four decades, is quite simply, "Mr. Long Point Settler."

Raised in the historic village of St. Williams, Norfolk County, Robert has been a genealogist specializing in the history and genealogy of early Norfolk County since his teen years. His earlier memories are of sitting beside his grandmother listening to the local lore and traditions from her lips. He went on to study the historical documents in dozens of libraries, archives and institutions. The depth of decades of study is evident in all his work.

Robert Mutrie's definitive 310-page hard cover book, The Long Point Settlers, is the encyclopedic reference to Norfolk's earliest pioneers. It should be Book One in every Norfolk researcher's library.

From 1994 to 2000 Robert edited The Long Point Settlers Journals containing scholarly accounts written by many dedicated Norfolk family researchers. A number of issues are still available.

Today he provides on-demand access to his on-going research in the form of The Long Point Settlers Genealogies, individual four- to six-generation family accounts covering over 600 of Norfolk County’s pioneering families. Check out his list of genealogies available  -- if only for the free online summary descriptions of each family's roots.

Robert is also the author-publisher of a variety of other Norfolk County books, publications and historical transcripts, and several state-of-the-art family histories including The Yeager Family Album. His most recent work is St. Williams: The History, A Nostalgic Look at Nineteenth Century Village Life.

More recently he has begun chronicling the Niagara Settlers in a new website. Visit The Niagara Settlers.
