Welcome to the site for the Institute of Community Leaders at James Logan High School! The Institute of Community Leaders is a new program at James Logan High School slated to open in Fall of 2011. This program will be a "School-within-a-school," or a four-year program at Logan that focuses primarily on preparing ALL students for college and a career beyond Logan through personalized instruction, rigorous coursework, and the development of strong academic and leadership skills. Please see the Brochure for specific details. Although it is slated to open in 2011, work for this new program began in Fall of 2008. It has been a long journey! Founding and participating team members include (in alphabetical order): Dorothy Allen, Abhi Brar, Erin Cross, Alicia Elbert, Teri Lampi, Jessica Lange, David Loyd, Amy McNamara, Stephanie Papas, Rick Perry, Ed Raco, Jodie Schwartzfarb, Meghan Sobcienski, and Karen Yifru. We hope to expand and diversify our team this year. Our work has been guided by Joe Feldman, Director of Secondary Education in New Haven Unified, Dr. Olivia Lynch, Director of Professional Learning Systems for the School Redesign Network at Stanford University's School of Education, and Enid Lee a nationally acclaimed Educational Consultant on equity and literacy. Our core Design Team members are Dorothy Allen, Erin Cross, Alicia Elbert, Jessica Lange, Stephanie Papas, Rev. Rick Perry from Congregations Organizing for Renewal and Ed Raco. We meet every Wednesday after school from 3:45-5:15, in Room 503 at Logan.
