LOETZ AND GLASS

Kralik Inkwells 2

When dealing with Kralik, it is important to keep in mind that much of its production was intended to look like Loetz glass without actually becoming outright copying. Such is the case of Pampas glass, of which Kralik had its version, appearing both in vessels and inkwells:

 1. PAMPAS BLUE-AVC

2. AVC COLLECTION

 3. MM COLLECTION

5.  PAMPAS VASE FROM INTERNET

 6. MM COLLECTION

 7.  LIGHT GREEN--AVC COLLECTION

8. EMERALD GREEN, AVC

At the time I bought this next inkwell, I was ready to swear it was a type of Loetz phänomen. However, on closer inspection, I found that the base glass was purple or amethyst--a color I have never encountered in Loetz vases. I have since seen Kralik vases with the same wide iridescent banding:

8. AVC-- SIMILAR TO LOETZ PHAN GRE 29

Kralik also made its own version of Spiraloptisch, which lacks the weight and radiance of the original Loetz:

9. KRALIK SPIRALOPTISCH-INTERNET

This vase is single layered, mold blown and cut from the top. So is the inkwell, which I bought from a swedish dealer!

 10.  AVC COLLECTION

Finally, two small threaded inkwells, in Kralik's trademark colors:

11. GREEN THREADED, AVC

12. PURPLE THREADED AVC
