Our Menu

Local Sprouts Cooperative focuses on providing creative local and organic food.  This is our full menu for catering and our community supported kitchen (CSK).   We serve local and seasonal foods, so our menu changes through the seasons.  Look at our seasonal menus to find our latest offerings. The CSK draws from this menu and offer weekly selections with more specials.
We make delicious local food for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and people with food allergies.
For catering orders there is a minimum of 6 people per item.  For the CSK we will pick certain items from our menu and offer the item per serving.

Throughout the menu we have used letters V for vegan, v for vegetarian, GF for Gluten-Free, M for Meat
When it reads, v, V, M, GF it means that the dish can be made vegetarian, Vegan,  or Meat and is always Gluten-Free.


Soups
$3.50 per serving for vegetarian and vegan dishes.  $4.00 for meat dishes.  Most soups can be made vegetarian, vegan or gluten free.

Seasonal Soup Delights- we put together local vegetables for a wonderful vegetarian vegetable soup

Maine Bean- a mix of Maine grown beans and seasonal vegetables V, GF

Maine Grain- Wheatberries & Barley in a rich, onion & garlic or chicken broth V or M

Lentil - onions, garlic and lentils seasoned with salt and black pepper V, GF

Jamaican black bean soup- Hearty coconut black bean soup with a Caribbean flavor V, GF

Chicken Noodle Soup- Down home style chicken soup that keep you warm all year long M

Fish Chowder- White fish with potatoes, onion and veggies in a thick creamy broth. M

Clam Chowder- Maine clams in Maine cream.  M

Sausage Chili- hearty and mildly spicy chili with free-range organic sausage M, GF

Spring-
Shav- a Eastern European sorrel soup, served cold with sour cream v, GF

Spring Dug Parsnips and Potato Soup- creamy and sweet parsnips fresh from the spring ground v, V, GF

Cream of Spring- Asparagus, Parsnips, Fiddleheads, Nettles, Spinach, Dandelions, Chives, Oregano, Maine Sea Salt, Fresh Cream v, GF

Summer
Gazpacho- tomatoes, cucumbers and other summer vegetables in a cool refreshing soup V, GF

Summer Cream- Fresh summer vegetables in a cream soup, hot or cold. v, GF

Cucumber & Mint Soup-  a refreshing blend of fresh cucumbers with cool mint and yogurt v, GF

Spicy Tomato- Hot peppers and ripe heirloom tomatoes, with chicken or vegetarian. V, M, GF

Borscht- beets, cabbage, potatoes in dark broth with or without yogurt v, V GF


Fall
Fall Harvest Soup- Root vegetables and fall vegetables in a rich vegetarian broth v, V, GF

Fennel & Roots – turnips, carrots, garlic, onions, potatoes, and fennel in a rich broth v, V, GF

Creamy Potato Leek- Local potatoes and leeks blended in a creamy delight v, GF

Winter
Butternut squash soup- Creamy orange and delicious v, V

Borscht- beets, cabbage, potatoes in dark broth with or without yogurt v, V

Carrot Ginger- Local carrots cooked to bliss with a sharp ginger flavor V

Coconut Curry Squash- Creamy winter squash soup with coconut milk and curry V

Lamb Stew- local lamb stewed  with root vegetables until soft and delicious M

Sausage Chili- local pork sausage, beans and tomatoes with a nice mild or hot spice M

Shrimp Chowder- Maine shrimp with potatoes, cream and onions M

French Onion Soup- strong and rich soup with slow cooked Maine onions V

Roasted Maine Potatoes with Garlic Aioli- Oven roasted potato with a sharp fresh garlic aioli. $3 v, GF

Fresh Spring Rolls- Lettuce, noodles, basil, seasonal veggies and your choice of shrimp, chicken or no meat wrapped in rice papers with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. $5 for 3 pieces V, M, GF

Fried Spring Rolls- Noodles, cabbage and vegetables fried in rice papers. $3 per 2 V, GF

Scallop Brochettes wrapped in Maple Bacon-Maine scallops wrapped and roasted in local bacon $5 for 3 pieces M, GF

Garlic Scallops or Shrimp-Maine scallops or shrimp sautéed in butter and garlic $5 M, GF

Chicken Satay- Skewers of chicken with peanut satay sauce $4 M, GF

Fried Green Tomatoes – crusted in eggs and bread crumbs with ketchup $3 v

Bliss Salad with Mesclun Greens, Shredded Carrots & Beets with a blueberry vinaigrette $3.50 V, GF

Seasonal Salad- we put together the freshest salad using food that is local and available V, GF

Roots Slaw- a coleslaw using a variety of root vegetables including carrots, beets, rutabaga, and other roots with a honey vinegar dressing- $3.50 v, V, GF

Chicken Salad- free range natural chicken served with veggies and our own garlic aioli served on a bed of greens $4.50 M, GF

Maine Tabouli – Maine wheatberries, finely chopped parsley, mint, tomatoes & lemon juice $4 V

Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad- served over mesclun greens with a balsamic dressing $5 v

Maple Roasted Beets, Carrots, & Walnut Salad over Arugula $5 V, GF

Wild Wheatberry Salad- Wheatberries, Beets, Cabbage, Greens with a Garlic Honey Dressing $4 v

Simple Salad – diced tomatoes, cucumbers and onions seasoned lightly with apple vinegar cracked pepper and sea salt $3.50  V, GF

Platters
our platters bring together some of our appetizers and more delicious finger food in a great starter or light lunch.  Our platters are offered all year, but they do not all use as much local ingredients depending on the season. based on a dozen servings

Mediterranean- Stuffed Grape leaves, hummus, tabouli, pita bread and falafel.  $38 V

Mexican- Tortillas, quesadillas, Mexican beans, chili fish or tofu,  $38 with fish, $34 with tofu v, M, GF

Thai- Fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls and chicken satay or tofu $40 with chicken and shrimp, $35 with tofu V, M, GF

Maine- Shrimp, mussels, local bread, and roasted potato spears $48 M

Veggies and dip- fresh vegetables and our own creamy dill, tahini miso or peanut sauce $28 V, GF

Sushi- vegetable, shrimp and/or tofu sushi $36 V, M, GF

Maine Cheese Platter- an assortment of Maine cheeses with crackers and local bread $48 v

Fruit platter- Local fruits or imported depending on the season (ask for current options) $36 V, GF

Chips and Dips- corn tortillas chips with black bean dip, salsa, & guacamole $28 V, GF

sandwiches can be made gluten-free for an additional charge of $1, minimum sandwich order is 4 sandwiches.

Hummus Among Us- Creamy Maine Bean Hummus with a mix of fresh vegetables $6 V

Chicken salad sandwich- free range natural chicken with veggies & own aioli with greens and veggies $7 M

Asian Chicken Sandwich- chili lemongrass spiced chicken breast over greens & scallions with chili mayo $7 M

The Maine Veggie Burger- a grain and vegetable burger made from all Maine ingredients- $6

Grilled Cheese – Maine cheese between Maine bread with a choice of tomatoes, sauerkraut or plain $5 v

Italians- Local cheese, crusty rolls, choice of veggies- lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, or hot relish. Oil, salt, pepper or mayo. Sliced turkey or ham (non-local) $7 meat, $6 veggie v, V, M

Quesadillas- Cheese, Veggie and/or Chicken-served with a side of salsa $7 veggie, $8 with meat, v, V, M

Goat Cheese and Spinach- with slices of apple and onion- $7 v

Haddock Hollandaise- grilled haddock served on a bed of cous cous with sun dried tomatoes, garlic and onions topped with a hollandaise sauce $10 M

Wild Salmon with Fresh Herbs- wild pacific salmon roasted in the oven with fresh herbs.  market price M, GF

Maine Homefries- Locally grown potatoes with garlic, onions, rosemary and dill fried in olive oil. $3 V, GF

Flannel Hash- Shredded beets, potatoes and carrots homefry style. $3 V, GF

Local Veggie and Egg Omelet- 3 egg omelets with your choice of vegetables and cheese (ask for what we have available) $5  v, GF

Spanish Omelet/Tortilla- Eggs and potatoes with your choice of fresh vegetables cooked and broiled topped with cheese. $5  v, GF

Scrambled Eggs or Tofu- 2 eggs with choice of two veggies or tofu scramble $4 for eggs, $5 for tofu, v, V, GF

Ployes Pancakes- Maine light buckwheat pancakes with Maine Maple syrup $5 V, GF

Multigrain Blueberry Pancakes- Hearty and light pancakes with Maine wild blueberries (when available) and Maine Maple syrup $5 v, GF

Veggie and Cheese Breakfast Burrito- seasonal vegetables sautéed with local Monterrey Jack cheese, eggs optional $5 v, V

almost all of our deserts can be vegan.  For our vegetarian desserts we use local free-range natural eggs, natural milk and a mix of organic whole wheat pastry flour and organic white flour.
also we can adjust to make gluten-free, wheat-free or refined sugar free
all desert prices are per person based on servings.
